- His father died on the dais, after finishing his turn at a Lucille Ball/Desi Arnaz Friar's Roast. Passed out in Milton Berle's lap, Berle shouted, "Is there a doctor in the house?" the audience laughed, not yet realizing Berle was serious. When he slumped down onto Milton Berle's lap after he had the heart attack from which he died moments later, Berle directed crooner Tony Martin to sing, attempting to divert the crowd. Martin's unfortunate song choice was "There's No Tomorrow".
