Thomas Meehan was born on August 14th, 1929 in Ossining, New York

In 1972, Thomas Meehan was approached by Martin Charnin about the possibility of collaborating to create and produce a musical based on the comic strip "Little Orphan Annie". Although skeptical at the time, Thomas eventually agreed and wrote the play with additional assistance from Charles Strouse. The musical would make its way to Broadway in 1977.
