Very enjoyable trip to the top of the mountains at Innsbruck. Rainy and cloudy the day we went so couldn't see overview of Innsbruck from the peak, but still worthwhile. Tram operator let us know the tram system was constructed 100 years ago - just amazing.

Thd second stop up the mountain is Seegrubenbahn valley station where we could still see Innsbruck below even with the rain. When you exit this station you need to walk about 100 meters to the right to locate the loading site for the tram to the peak which is Hafelekar. The signage didn't really make this obvious so was a bit confusing on how to continue the journey to the peak when exiting at the Seegrubenbahn valley station.

Once you're at the Hafelekarbahn station on top the mountain it's just a short 15 minute hike to the Hafelekar peak. Nice to see the shear drop-offs from here. Somewhat steep stone trail to the peak but very doable for anyone with average mobility.

Old town was beautiful and looked like you were in the middle of a painting. The views of the mountains and colorful buildings were my favorite.

We were very surprised how much we enjoyed this visit to the church. Each statue is a work of art. It is very impressive. We had already visited a lot of churches during our visit but this one stood out with its ceiling and ornate symbols.

Very well maintained castle and museum with a nice love story. There was no line when we went and entrance was included in our Innsbruck City Pass.

The city central street with plenty to see as it opens into a pedestrian friendly square with sites to see, eateries, and shops. Great spot for taking a walk and seeing the sights of the city.

The golden roof so popular in Innsbruck was a spectacular sight during the day with gold plated slate like pieces that adorn the roof creating an attractive glow. This decorative roof made the building to stand out from the rest making it a landmark. It is unique in some sense.

This visit came included in our Nordkette tickets, so we stopped in on the way down the mountain.

The maps were a little underwhelming, and the zoo is built on a hill so expect lots of uphill walking! There were plenty of animals to see, and they seemed to be all local to Austria. The aquarium there was huge, with plenty of fish.

The biggest attraction (for my kids at least) was the brown bear - and we weren't disappointed!

It's worth visiting if you are doing the Nordkette trip too. The kids will love it.

Definiely one for those intetested in the intricacies of the heirarchies of Europe. Stunning paintings and a look into the world of nobility, although would have been nice not to have as many darn chairs! Very interesting look into everyone from Henry 8th's wife, the Habsburg dynasty, and Archduke Franz Ferdinand whose assasination started WW1.

I just loved everything about this experience.

Located on the 2nd floor of a shopping centre (easy to find) in the old town I was the only person going through at my time slot.

The Experience Tirol show was outstanding. Hologram characters took me through the history of Tirol to the present day. I sat in a carriage beside Emperor Maximilian as he talked about his day to day life. We travelled through the Old Town where I recognised the buildings and watched everyday people go about their lives. I was left wanting more.

I learnt about the revolution, famous artists and writers. Traditions and pass-times of the Tirol people throughout the 4 seasons. I flew over Innsbruck and drove a VW down the new motorway.

Suitable for young an old it’s a great way to see Innsbruck from a different perspective.

From Maria Theresien Street, we boarded bus line J and arrived at Patscherkofelbahn (last stop). We walked straight to the gondola and had it all to ourselves. You don't need to be packed like other cable cars. The gondola was clean and comfortable, making it a relaxing experience to admire the breathtaking views all around while sitting. Once you're up, you'll be treated to awe-inspiring views. The mountain can be explored through various trails. Das Kofel is a charming cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating, but the service was below average. I wonder how it will during busy summer times as cafe was not busy at all when we were there. There is a small playground for children as well as toilets.
I strongly recommend this gondola ride.
