Here’s When General Hospital Will Be Back on Air With New Episodes
Port Charles is entering Phase 4 of reopening.
ABC announced Thursday that General Hospital will be back on the air with new episodes beginning Monday, Aug. 3. The venerable sudser — which resumed production this week after a four-month coronavirus-imposed shutdown — aired its last fresh episode on May 21.
GH will be the second of broadcast TV’s four daytime dramas to get back on the air with new episodes, following CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful, which returned with originals on July 21. A return date for The Young and the Restless, which has been back in production for a week, remains TBD. NBC’s Days of Our Lives — currently in the throes of a mass cast exodus — will head back to the studio in September without any lapse in fresh material (the show benefited from having eight months of episodes banked when production was halted in March).

The reruns going back to the last few weeks of episodes rather than continue themed weeks of classic episodes makes a lot more sense now.
Also, seeing those older episodes followed by the recent stuff makes it very clear why ABC won’t release them anywhere, and is reluctant to rerun them, only doing so thanks to a pandemic. It’s just so hard to go back to the recent stuff. A lot of character are just bad, the plots are much worse, etc.
It wasn’t older episodes like CBS did with Y&R and B&B ABC only catered to Sonny and Carly Jason and Sam and episodes with Sonny’s children plus Nurse’s Balls starting in 2015 if they showcased more of the cast it would’ve been better. I haven’t watched a GH episode since May!!! Look at the 5 new episodes starting on 8/3 3 out of the 5 involve Sonny!!!
JASON & SAM were not catered to. Saw very little of them.
In fact the wedding was overshadowed by everyone else.
They had their own week dedicated to them Peggy.

UGH Willow and Michael. Still moving forward with that forced relationship?! SMH GH. Stopped watching back in April when that ridiculous storyline came to a head and it looks like I won’t be tuning back in any time soon either. Hard pass…

Glad to hear this news! Can’t wait to see the new episodes. Missed GH a lot. Hopefully, they may be able to tape/bank more episodes like Days of our Lives months ahead, so they will not fall behind like before.

Lmao. It’s so dumb that Brad is in prison for the baby swap while Nelle, the actual mastermind, is walking around free. God, I hope she’s locked up again by the end of the year.
Remember when Carly came on show? Admit it, we ALL loved to hate her. I’m thinking Nelle may end up being like that too…same happened with Lucy and Dr. Lisel Obrect and more. We will see. Right now, I obviously dislike her, but she’ll find a way back “in”& will “change for Wiley” bc we love our villians on soaps.
Nelle doesn’t even care about her son. She just wants him to hurt Carly and Michael. If she got him she would be bored with him after a day.

A perfect opportunity to fast forward and re-boot the show, getting rid of all the bad storylines. And what do they do? The same old Sonny/Carly/Jason/Michael/Peter mess.

I’m madly hoping that Nelle gets custody of Wylie. Carly needs a beat-down, and there is no more white bread/mayo combination than Michael and Willow.
Unfortunately, Sonny will win over Cyrus, Michael will get custody of Wylie, and Jason and Sam will be the truest wuv that ever wuvved.
There is zero suspense to the storylines.
I agree. Didn’t watch reruns of the corinthos show. These teasers are boring. Sick of the hypocrisy. I used to hate Nelle and Ava but now I cheer for them. Sonny is a monster and Jason is a hired killer but they have the audacity to act holier than thou. I don’t really care about GH any more after the stupid marriage storyline
Too bad the writers and producers didn’t use the break to revamp the storylines and get rid of useless characters

It will be good to have some new programming. I’ve felt no need to catch up given how many recent flashbacks were in the last episodes they aired. I think I can recite Willow’s lines from my own memory.

It’s what I watch everyday after work. I have been watching this for 50 yrs.
I’ve been watching since day one. But the writing now is awful. We have nothing but praise for the monster Sonny and killer Jason. They r forcing Michael and Willow down our throats. They treat Nelle and Ava like trash when Sonny Jason Carly and Sam aren’t any better. Now we have Joss acting entitled.
I love seeings general hospital since I was 15 years old I’m 58yr old never miss a show.
I get everything done before it starts.

I think these episodes for the week of August 3rd had to be filmed before shutdown and saved-there is no way these episodes are from production that just started.

I know everyone is complaining, but the show can’t possibly scrap all the storylines from one day to the next. I’m hoping that they will wrap up these storylines as quickly as possible in soap world (which means several weeks) and move on to new ones.
On the off chance they’re reading this:
– more Ava
– Less Sonny and the mob
– Break Sam and Jason up for good, no more scenes with them mooning over each other
– Keep Franco and Liz together
– More Laura
– Give Jordan a brain
