I don't think the transfers differed, but the first SE DVD's cover was green and the other was blue IIRC

I wonder why I'm only having issues with this title so far....in regards to auto dimming anyway.
My screen blacks out for a couple of seconds when I change sources or there is a resolution/dynamic range change in the content. Your issue seems very much like a HDMI cable issue if it is happening repeatedly.

Strangely enough I was planning on watching The Fog this evening so I report back if anything is amiss.

Some Shout titles flicker scene to scene in Dolby Vision on the Panny but Fog isn't one of them (hint: Halloween 4 is one of them even on latest firmware), I watched Fog many times with no problems. I also run LG and Panny and don't have the problems you have, make sure all your firmwares are updated at least. Shout discs did used to give me handshake issues when I had a Sony X700 and only ran one HDMI through my AVR, after I wised up and used both HDMI connections (one to OLED, one to AVR) I never had those problems since. OLED is not the problem here it is all the digital handhaking going on in some setups.

All firmware is up to date (TV just updated yesterday) and I'm pretty sure the HDMI cable is secure. I'll have to check again though. The auto dimming sounds like an issue with OLED tech though after watching the YouTube video that was posted. Maybe I should buy a better HDMI cable? Is the one that comes with the Panny 9000 pretty good quality? I would think so for the price of that player. I'm definitely not going the route of buying that service remote and screwing up my TV's warranty.

I'm more than likely just gonna stick with the BD for this title anyways but I just worry what other titles I might have issues with.

HDMI cables are rarely an issue, I can use my cables from PS3 era for Ultra HD players, any cable that came with a 1.3/1.4 device should do 4k/60hz and can even do 1080p/120hz (maybe 1440p), I've tried them all.

It’s cool to see that documentary was ported over to the 4K, bummer they couldn’t do the same for They Live & Prince of Darkness.

I have a B2 and 820 and have this issue with DV (also had dropouts in DV with the Sony x-700). Once I plugged the 820 directly to the TV and not through my sound bar/AV receiver, no more dropouts. So I'm pretty sure it's the handshake from the TV to the receiver to the player (changed cords before and still the issue persisted). My only suggestions are to not pass through a receiver if possible (taking up more space on the ports) or use the audio HDMI port on the 9000 strictly for audio. ASBL is a separate issue that you either turn off via the service menu or learn to live with for HDR content.

Yep. The reissued version was blue, but it was an ugly, off-putting blue. It seemed like they just adjusted the levels to make the green image an ugly blue-green color.

Also, the original disc in with the green cover was a widescreen/full-frame flipper. The reissued disc simply offered a single-sided port of the widescreen side. Exact same disc otherwise.

I've got my HDMI going directly from the player to the TV. I just tried to plug the HDMI into the alternate input on the Panny and all I got was a black screen with audio so I just plugged it back into the other input and PQ is back but blackouts persist.

I wouldn't mind trying that service remote but I've heard some folks are still having issues even after they do that.

I saw recently a 35mm showing of the film, which is also the first and only time I've seen it. After reading the past couple of pages re: blue vs green tint, going from memory I do not remember a green tint to the film. Blue feels more right. Just my 2c.

The service remote will only help you with the dimming issue, so you should avoid messing around with that until you've fixed the black screen issue. It could be something is faulty and needs to be repaired/replaced, so don't go invalidating your warranty just yet.

Also. I watched The Fog last night (in DV) and and had zero issues.

Watched this one late last night but it ended before the witching hour of 21st of April. Scream Factory really knocked this one out of the park!!!
