  • With many challenges ahead for the duo, they might not spend much time together in season 3.
  • Good Omens season 3 may or may not give Crowley and Aziraphale a happy ending, as it's based on an unreleased book.

As Good Omens prepares for its third and final season, its cast offers some teases of what’s to come for Crowley (David Tennant) and Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), and one, in particular, eases the biggest concern about them. Based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel of the same name, Good Omens premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2019. The first season covered the book, so Good Omens season 2 featured an entirely original story that continued exploring the relationship between demon Crowley and angel Aziraphale, with flashbacks to some of their most notable adventures since the beginning of time.

After archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) showed up at Aziraphale’s bookshop naked and with no idea who he was, Crowley and Aziraphale teamed up to find out what happened to him before Heaven and Hell did. Good Omens season 2 ended on a massive cliffhanger as Aziraphale took a high-ranking role in Heaven and Crowley came clean about his feelings for him, but Aziraphale chose his new job. One of the biggest questions about Good Omens season 3 is what will happen to Crowley and Aziraphale’s relationship, but one tease can now ease this specific concern… for a while.

The chemistry between Crowley and Aziraphale was evident since season 1 of Good Omens, but season 2 went deeper into it with the above-mentioned flashbacks. Fans had speculated about a possible romance between Crowley and Aziraphale, and it was confirmed in season 2, though not as expected. After the reveal of the romance between Beelzebub and Gabriel, which caused a lot of commotion in Heaven and Hell, the couple left for Alpha Centauri, leaving a spot open in Heaven and Hell. Shax took a higher role in Hell, while the Metatron arrived to offer a higher position to Aziraphale.

Crowley and Aziraphale’s kiss was a surprising and long-awaited moment in Good Omens, and David Tennant has now teased more romance for them in season 3.

Knowing the strong bond between Crowley and Aziraphale, the Metatron mentioned to Aziraphale that he would have the ability to restore Crowley’s status as an angel, thus being able to bring him with him to Heaven. Crowley came clean about his feelings for Aziraphale and kissed him, but failed to convince him to stay on Earth with him and Aziraphale left with the Metatron. Crowley and Aziraphale’s kiss was a surprising and long-awaited moment in Good Omens, and David Tennant has now teased more romance for them in season 3.

Speaking with Michelle Visage on the BAFTA TV Awards red carpet (via CBR), Tennant was asked if there will be more romance and kisses between Crowley and Aziraphale in season 3. Tennant said the audience doesn’t know how many kisses are lined up for season 3, but neither does he, but implied there will be more romance in the final episodes. Tennant also revealed Good Omens season 3 will start shooting in January and that the experience of filming the series is “deeply joyous” as he gets to hang out with Michael Sheen and “talk nonsense”.

Crowley & Aziraphale Might Not Spend Much Time Together In Good Omens Season 3

Crowley & Aziraphale Have Many Challenges Ahead

Good Omens season 2 shocked Aziraphale

As relieving as it is to know that there will be more romance between Crowley and Aziraphale in Good Omens season 3, this might not happen right away. At the end of Good Omens season 3, Aziraphale was seen on an elevator to Heaven and Crowley left in his car, visibly upset after seeing the angel go. The Metatron told Aziraphale that they were working on the Second Coming, which left Aziraphale a bit shaken, so he will have a lot of work to do in Heaven.

It’s unknown what Crowley will do next as he stayed on Earth, so he and Aziraphale have many obstacles to overcome before they can be together again.

In addition to that, the Metatron was too suspicious, so much so that it made way for the Good Omens coffee theory, which suggests he manipulated Aziraphale to keep him away from Crowley. It’s unknown what Crowley will do next as he stayed on Earth, so he and Aziraphale have many obstacles to overcome before they can be together again, so it will surely take a couple of episodes to finally see them together. It’s to be seen what will bring them back together and if Aziraphale will finally open up about his feelings or not.

Will Crowley & Aziraphale Get A Happy Ending In Good Omens Season 3?

Good Omens Season 3 Is Adapting The Book’s Unreleased Sequel

A happy ending won’t come for free for Crowley and Aziraphale as they will have many challenges to face, and there’s a possibility that Good Omens could end on a heartbreaking note.

The plot of Good Omens season 3 is a mystery, but it will be based on Gaiman and Pratchett’s unreleased sequel, which they started working on back in 1989. As the book was never published, plot details about it are unknown, but Gaiman has given an idea of where season 3 will go. After stopping an apocalypse in season 1 and all the chaos triggered by Gabriel’s “disappearance” in season 2, season 3 will go back to the show’s roots with another end of the world, and according to Gaiman, Crowley and Aziraphale teaming up again might be the world’s only chance to survive.

A happy ending won’t come for free for Crowley and Aziraphale as they will have many challenges to face, and there’s a possibility that Good Omens could end on a heartbreaking note. However, it’s also possible that Crowley and Aziraphale could get an ending like that of Beelzebub and Gabriel, allowing them to live their romance the way they want to, without judgment and without worrying about Heaven and Hell.
