From military aircraft to commercial jets, the XB legacy continues.

In the midst of the Cold War, the race for supremacy in the skies was at its peak. Triggered by concerns over the emerging XB-70 in the United States, the Soviets started the development of the Tupolev Tu-135 Mach 3 bomber. This marked the beginning of a new era in aviation, where speed and technology would shape the future of flight.

Fast forward to 2016, when Toyota axed the Scion brand after 13 years of attempting to create a 'youth brand' in North America. Of all the Scion models, the Scion xB stood out as an iconic and unique vehicle that captured the imagination of a generation. Its boxy design and customizable features made it a favorite among young car enthusiasts.

But the legacy of the XB didn't end there. In the world of aviation, Boom Supersonic made headlines with the successful flight of XB-1, the prototype aircraft for the world's fastest airliner, Overture. The XB-1 experimental jet was cleared for supersonic flight by the FAA, paving the way for future advancements in supersonic travel.

Today, we bring you a 2005 Scion xB that needs a bit of work. Only a bit, though, or so it seems. The pics show some minor cosmetic issues, but underneath the surface lies a powerhouse of potential. Just like the XB-1, this car has the potential to soar to new heights with a little bit of TLC.

The FAA issued a first-of-its-kind authorization to XB-1 for supersonic test flights, planned for later this year in the Black Mountain Supersonic Test Track. This groundbreaking achievement marks a new chapter in the history of aviation, where speed and innovation go hand in hand.

XB-1 is not just a prototype aircraft; it is a symbol of progress and advancement in the world of aviation. Its flight testing and evaluations will inform the development of Boom's Overture, a supersonic jet designed to carry 64-80 passengers twice as fast as conventional airliners. The XB-1 demonstrator provides the foundation for Boom's supersonic airliner Overture, setting the stage for a new era in commercial air travel.
