Horror, Inc., the owners of the Friday the 13th film franchise, is announcing the launch of the Jason Universe today—a new entertainment universe that is said to usher in a new era of expansion for the classic horror franchise, with new entertainment, games, immersive experiences, merchandise, and more for fans of the iconic hockey-mask-wearing villain, as originally introduced in the iconic 1980 slasher film from director Sean S. Cunningham. Crystal Lake, an expanded prequel series from A24 and Peacock, is but one of the new features that fans can look forward to under this new umbrella of content, although recent reports have revealed that the project is now looking for a new showrunner following the exit of Bryan Fuller (Star Trek: Discovery).

Quotes from the executives:

  • Robert Barsamian, President of Horror, Inc.
    • “For decades, Jason shocked and thrilled audiences who kept coming back for more. We’re excited to work with Victor Miller and Marc Toberoff on new projects we’ll announce in the coming months.”

    • “With the unique ability to remain at the forefront of pop culture for 44 years, Jason continues to top charts as one of the scariest villains of all time with strong global awareness across multiple generations thanks to billions of TikTok views plus millions and millions of gamers and movie fans. We can’t wait to introduce new Jason Universe activations to these amazing fans.”
