The Rock Posts Martial Arts Workout Video Ahead of New Movie Smashing Machine
The Rock is in training to become an MMA fighter, but only in a movie.
He posted a video to Twitter of himself doing a fearsome MMA workout consisting of punches, kicks, and grappling.
“Day 1,” The Rock captions the footage. “MMA training camp. Preparing for Smashing Machine.”

Smashing Machine is A24’s upcoming biography of two-time UFC champion Mark Kerr. He’s been the subject of a documentary previously, in HBO’s The Smashing Machine from 2002. It chronicled not only Kerr's iconic career, and also detailed his struggles with substance abuse and his rocky relationship with girlfriends.
“I’m a hard worker,” writes The Rock, “but I realized that I’d have to work harder with this role than anything I’ve ever worked for in my life.”
He seems to enjoy hard roles. Remember when The Rock was approached to be US President?
Smashing Machine is written and directed by Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems, The Curse). It’s set for release in 2025.
