Please pray for Cardinal Burke!

Cardinal Burke announced on Aug. 10 that he tested positive for COVID-19. However, multiple reliable sources confirm he is in very critical condition.

The 73-year-old cardinal’s social media accounts then informed the public on Aug. 14 that the hospital placed him on a ventilator. Additional reports surfaced on Aug. 17 that Cardinal Burke is critically ill with pneumonia and not responding to treatments.

The cardinal requests prayers, most especially the Holy Rosary.

Here’s some reports below:

Fr. John Zuhlsdorf tweeted, “Renew prayers and offer penances for Card. Burke, who is doing poorly. I have confirmation from two other sources of what that someone who knows the family wrote: H.E. is at a critical point with pneumonia. The next day or so will tell.”

Bishop Athanasius Schneider of Astana, Kazakhstan also tweeted, “According to information received, Cardinal Burke’s condition is very serious. We pray insistently for the healing of Cardinal Burke.”

Catholic apologist Steve Ray wrote, “Please read and share about [Cardinal] Burke: ‘The Cardinal’s condition is grave, the next 48 hours will be crucial if he lives or dies. He’s on a ventilator with severe pneumonia; not responding to treatment. Not optimistic about his chances of survival. Thank you for the prayers.’”

Prayer to Our Lady of Lourdes for the healing of Cardinal Raymond Burke:

O ever-Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy,
Health of the sick, Refuge of sinners,
Comforter of the afflicted,
you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings.
Look with mercy on me.

By appearing in the Grotto of Lourdes,
you were pleased to make it a privileged sanctuary,
where you dispense your favors;
and where many sufferers have obtained
the cure of their infirmities,
both spiritual and corporal.

I come, therefore, with unbounded confidence
to implore your maternal intercession.

Obtain, O loving Mother, the grant of my requests.
(mention your petition)
Through gratitude for your favors,
I will endeavor to imitate your virtues,
that I may one day share your glory.

Amen.
