Sally F. Lopez, age 80, of Sterling, died Friday, May 10, 2024 at Allure of Sterling.
Sally was born April 19, 1944 in East Chicago, IN, the daughter of Paiseno and Frances (Martinez) Valenzuela. She was raised by her grandmother, Augustina Martinez. Sally married Edmund R. Lopez, Sr. on June 1, 1963 in East Chicago, IN. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2008. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.
She is survived by her two sons, Edmund R. Lopez, Jr. of Sterling and John (Roxann) Lopez of Oak Park and one grandson, Edmund Lopez, III of Rockford.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one brother, Henry Valenzuela.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 from Noon – 2:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Avenue in Sterling. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with The Very Reverend James R. Keenan of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling officiating. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.
