This is a general life question best directed at a therapist. They'll be able to help you unpack what's going on.

This is a big question and will take a lot of unpicking to understand why this is the case for you. It could be how you have learned to cope. I can only theorise from my experience and what I've seen from others. A theory could be that unconsciously, you don't believe you deserve love and believe that everyone will abandon you- so your brain has put a safety net there to always leave people before they can leave you. In the short term, it helps because we get the comfort of knowing we were in control, but long term we don't have what we want in life.

There could be so many contexts behind this. Are you pushing some people away because they are actually not good for you but you just don't trust yourself? Or are they healthy potential relationships that you arent investing in because they are going to abandon you?
