UMKC has shown love to all of its students and as an upcoming freshman. I feel like it's my responsibility to show UMKC what I can truly offer. Such as my time, dedication, and skills.
Admin is extremely unorganized and unhelpful. Internally the University is a mess and barely functions on a daily basis. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because of one of my professors and the general area of KC. Corruption among the admin is also a huge problem. I have personally seen 3 chairs of my department in my 3 years here. Just a mess.
I like UMKC. You meet a lot of people from all different backgrounds. It's a very unproblematic school so far. No one really tries to be rude or bad to anyone else.
Good for commuter students, not worth it if you want a "college experience" like in the movies. The academics are good, but student life is bare and it is very isolated.
The University of Missouri-Kansas City is a really nice campus. The professors for the most part are focused on student’s success. The athletics department has great coaches but the training staff and head (Brandon Martin) leave much to be desired
Dorms-
* expect to be bit up by SPIDERS and have lots of ROACHES crawling through the pipes into dorms.
*vacuums provided DONT WORK, they know about the issue yet still provide dinky old vacuums that don’t work just spread dirt around.
* my entire floor has SMELLS like poop for the majority of the year don’t know where it’s coming from but is bad and hasn’t been fixed all year.
Campus food~
* Campus OVERCHARGES students and pretends like it’s an “accident”. 8$ chocolate milk sold on campus they admitted it was a mistakenly price has not been fixed. LOOK AT PRICES.
* cafeteria food is some of the worst stuff I’ve put in my mouth. Grilled cheese is simply a slice of cold cheese between white bread cold. Pizza is cardboard. Lots of people of Indian descent working the kitchen.. if u don’t like Indian food ur out of luck.
Campus life-
There is none. It’s basically a community college. Except the community college I went to before was far superior.

Garbage school. The classes are extremely biased and so feel more like brain washing than actual education. There of tons of hidden fees and the customer service for getting this sorted out is horrible. The only chance at having a decent student life was the fraternity element, but the school has over regulated it to the point that you might as well just join a Sunday-School club. I'm going to finish out my degree here cause im 75% done, but dont waste your time or money on this school.
UMKC is a great place to get a biology degree. Very good curriculum, friendly and helpful advisors, good sense of community.
My life at UMKC has been short however, very fun. I have been able to make many new friends that I often hang out with and study with. I have met a very diverse group of people who make me feel safe and happy. I have enjoyed going to a few basketball games as well as help some of my friends with their volleyball training.
My experience at the University of Missouri - Kansas City Dental School has been transformative. The program's holistic approach integrates theoretical knowledge with hands-on clinical practice, preparing us comprehensively. Faculty dedication fosters a supportive environment, encouraging growth and collaboration. Engaging in community outreach programs has enriched my understanding of dental care's societal impact. The school's emphasis on research nurtures critical thinking and innovation. Despite challenges, the camaraderie among peers creates a sense of belonging. UMKC's commitment to excellence and diversity molds us into competent, compassionate dental professionals, ready to serve our communities with integrity and empathy.
My first year at a freshman at UMKC has been great overall, I've had the chance to learn about different cultures and religions. I've seen that there is opportunities offered for all because of this and the majors they offer. Along with this the teachers have also been very welcoming and helpful. Most of the teachers I've had, have been willing to personal help me if I'm struggling with a assignment within their class and they do their best to make lectures understandable as possible because they show they care and they do a great job to explain in depth. I really enjoy campus because it's a big size and I think it's well structured as well as pretty. The resources are very helpful as well, the financial office is great in dividing payments by the month and can answer every question or concern that you have. The library is a place I really like too because it's a great place to study and it has great sources. I don' t think I could think of anything I would want to change I enjoy all.
My experience with the University of Missouri-Kansas City has been excellent. I transferred at semester from a previous University after being unhappy with the atmosphere and education. After transferring, I quietly felt like I belonged; I knew that the environment of the University would allow me to thrive both academically and help in the future of my career. The education, the professors, and the overall welcoming atmosphere of the University have had a powerful effect on my academics and studying. I currently have a 4.0 and could not be happier with my professors and the wide variety of resources available for learning. Being a transfer student, I can attest to the tremendous academic learning environment UMKC offers. Many of my classes have study groups, and all my professors try to meet with all students if they need help in the course. My experience at UMKC has been tremendous, and I am very excited to continue my education through the University.
Since starting my education at UMKC I have been pleased with my educational journey thus far. I started in high school taking courses and plan to study Pharmacy at UMKC. I would highly recommend UMKC
My dorm flooded and they literally made me pay to move out because I want to live with a complete stranger who had a full grown mastiff living in our dorm room. Couldn’t eat any meat from the dining hall or I would be sick for days.
I'm active on campus in many aspects, such as student government and peer mentoring, and I still find time to have a social life and work life outside of school. This campus allows me to explore the city better with its location, and practically anyone is always willing to help, regardless of faculty/student status.
very neat area that the campus is located at. The campus is very nicely constructed and well taken care of.
My experience here at the University of Missouri-Kansas City has allowed me to prepare for my future after college. This includes internships, job opportunities, and connections.
UMKC has an amazing campus for students. They offer various academic , health and food resources for those who are in need of help. They prioritize working with students and are constantly asking for feedback. They want to hear what you think, in order to make improvements. I love the environment and community at UMKC. Everyone is welcoming and want to help. I highly recommend checking out UMKC and exploring what they have to offer!
it is a nice school. i like a lot of my professors. i feel like they care about their students and want us to get the most of college.
I really like UMKC. Since day one they were amazing. The step by step process from admission to getting in the classroom was great. It is a great community and I LOVE my professors. They are amazing and I’m learning a lot. UMKC also has many ways to help students. Financial aid, mentorship, tutoring and more. UMKC has extracurricular activities for students, diferente clubs and sports. UMKC is also a very diverse school, therefore no matter where you are from, you are going to feel welcome.
