#3 Women's Tennis STL Bound After Win Over #13 Spartans

WHITEWATER, Wis. – No. 3 University of Chicago had familiar foe No. 13 Case Western Reserve as the only thing standing in their way from a trip to St. Louis and the quarterfinals of the 2024 NCAA D-III women's tennis tournament. The Maroons held a solid 2-1 lead after doubles and immediately put the Spartans hopes of a comeback to rest after three straight solo victories in a 5-1 win.

RESULT
No. 13 Case Western Reserve – 1
No. 3 UChicago – 5

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • No. 3 University of Chicago (20-1) spotted No. 13 Case Western Reserve (15-7) a single point in doubles play as the Spartans were able to come away with a victory in the third slot. However, the first two doubles matches that finished were completely controlled by the Maroons who went into the solo side of play up 2-1.
  • Needing to wrap up what the pairs got started, the first three matches that finished in singles action all went to UChicago. Guo was the first to complete her match with dual 6-0 victories before Biria and Mikos put together four straight 6-1 results to secure the third-round matchup and etch their name into the quarterfinals slot on the tournament bracket.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Maroons are now on their way to the quarterfinals in St. Louis but will have to wait until tomorrow to find out who their opponent is. Regardless of who they take on, they'll next be in action when play resumes on Monday, May 20th.
