Francis Joseph Maher OBITUARY

Francis Joseph Maher Oct. 8, 1925 – Sept. 9, 2013 Resident of Mill Valley, CA. Frank passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in a hospital in Mountain View. He was born in San Francisco and attended St. Vincent’s School for Boys in San Rafael. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in the Class of 1944 and attended the University of San Francisco. He served in the Army Infantry in WWII and received a Purple Heart. Frank worked for H&R Block for over thirty years, he was an Affiliate of the Daughters of Charity, he was active in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Mill Valley, was a founding member of the St. Vincent de Paul Conference, Mill Valley, and a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West. Frank is survived by his sister, Sister Mary Ruth Maher, Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, and a cousin, William J. Flynn of Daly City. He has many beloved Irish cousins as well as many friends in San Francisco and Marin. On Friday, Sept. 13, visitation begins at 10:00 a.m.; Mass of Christian Burial (with military honors) at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Mill Valley. Reception will follow in the parish hall. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, 26000 Altamont Rd., Los Altos Hills, CA 94022; the St. Vincent de Paul Conference, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 3 Oakdale Ave., Mill Valley 94941; or St. Vincent’s School for Boys San Rafael. Arrangements by Cusimano Colonial Mortuary, Mtn. View
