The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)

A well written and compelling story of a horrific dystopia that, sadly, is in many ways reflective of our own society. This one was a page-turner, and I love a strong female lead. For me, though, there was so much more that could have been done to drive home a different lesson about rebellion and autocracy. The story that Suzanne Collins told was not the story I wanted to read, and that became apparent around the midpoint of the novel. Yet I kept reading, and I found the story compelling enough to get through it very quickly.
