In the FBI Season 3 premiere on Tuesday night, Special Agent Maggie Bell (played by Missy Peregrym) returned from her undercover assignment with a bit of a secret — one that viewers were let in on before the episode faded to black. But how will OA eventually react?
Having completed the undercover assignment that took her off the canvas late last season (to coincide with Peregrym’s maternity leave), Maggie we learned has reentered the dating world for the first time after having become a widow. But it was revealed to only viewers at the end of the Season 3 opener that the man she is seeing is an agent she worked with while undercover — Special Agent Nestor Vertiz, played by Josh Segarra. (Fun fact: Segarra has existed in the Dick Wolf universe before, as Voight’s son Justin on Chicago P.D.)
As viewers saw this week, Maggie isn’t eager to share the details of her undercover op with OA (or to reveal to him that she’s seeing Nestor). Which makes it all the more awkward next week when OA doesn’t hit it off with Agent Vertiz.
As EP Rick Eid told TVLine of the new season, “Maggie is not eager to share much about her time undercover, not even with OA (played by Zeeko Zaki).” Instead, Eid said, “she’s ready to hit the ground running” — and even as she and OA “fall back into a comfortable rhythm,” “OA also senses that Maggie is hiding something from him, making things even more complicated.”
Check out exclusive photos of Maggie and Nestor above (from the Season 3 premiere) and below (from the CBS drama’s Nov. 24 episode, in which the team races to stop an active serial killer after three women are found weighted down at the bottom of a lake).
Didn’t love the season premiere. And not a fan of the new addition to the cast – the character of Tiffany Wallace. She doesn’t seem like a good fit for the show and wasn’t impressed with her acting. Wish they had kept Ebonee Noel on the show instead!
Agree! I really hope it was her decision to leave the show because if it wasn’t they made a huge mistake letting her go. Not a fan of the new addition.
I was disappointed that Ebonee Noel was gone too.
She was my favourite character,
I agree, FBI are idiots getting rid of Ebonee Noel. And the way her character was offhandedly dissed, doesn’t sound like it was her decision to leave. I found it odd last season that Kristen never got back into the field after being shot. The writers were terrible with her.
I was confused by the one scene when they wore masks.
Yeah, I noticed that too. It was the only even slight mention of covid in the entire episode…which became even more strange considering FBI: Most Wanted aired directly after it and made multiple references to it and had people wearing masks a bunch of times and (slight SPOILER ALERT) even had as a possible motivation for the COTW that his dad died of it
Terrible episode. Could you have made it more volatile if you had tried? White guys shooting up liberals. What a unique concept. How did you ever think that one up? Don’t you think the public is sick of those type of story lines in this climate? Some of the best writers in the world and that is the best that CBS can offer? Turned it off 3/4 of the way through. Guess I won’t be watching that show anymore.
So sorry that racism inconveniences you in your pursuit of entertainment. Some of us, due to the color of our skin, can never hide from it. I prefer having attention called to it, like shining a light on cockroaches.
The biggest domestic terror threat is from right-wing groups, according to the FBI. Sorry you don’t like storylines that reflect real life.
Real life? Don’t think so.
Highly sought narrative? Very much so.
The actual political violence I see is 98% leftist radicals intimidating, beating, shooting non-leftists. The other 2% is a few fed up non-liberals not taking it any more.
Plot line was ridiculous bs direct from the DNC. And now they are teasing a second female SPIC with non-traditional spousal arrangement drama to play out over the season? Perhaps that occurs – and I have no problem with it occurring – but no way is that representative of real life.
The overt manipulation makes it something other than entertainment.
I don’t mind the new agent, but I do miss Kristin.
I can’t believe you didn’t even mention that Kristin was gone with no fanfare. It’s so disrespectful to her character and the actor.
Nestor has to go. Will give it few more episodes and if isn’t gone I will be
No got 15 minute’s in and this is no longer the great show it was the new character is a train wreck
I actually liked the new addition of the lady FBI agent, but the new male character is the one I don’t like. I also miss the character written out from last year.
Why is always good news bad news? We get Maggie back but lose Kristen. I also hope it was the choice of Ebonee Noel to leave because otherwise I don’t see a reason for it. The premiere was okay. I was just excited to see Omar and Maggie back together. It was nice to get lost in the episode until they started wearing masks. Then the reality of the virus came roaring back unfortunately.
Please end the edgy Black Chick characters. We are fed up with this racial profiling. Let us see skilled, professional individuals who are an asset and can do the job just as well as the blond haired chick. Stop beating a dead horse. Thanks for your time! S3E1 of FBI
Glad to see Maggie back with OA but I was thrown by how Kristen (Ebonee Noel) was brushed off.
Also, there was no mention of the Chicago PD character cross-over. I would think OA and Maggie would at least have 5 minutes to catch up and he would mention to her that Upton was there.
I also agree with Joyce’s thoughts. No need to keep portraying stereotypes. We are all different individuals and we dont all have the same personality just because we are black, latinos, asians etc.
Been a fan of this show since day one but man that was awful! The new girl was not a good fit at all. Hope it gets better.
I love the new cast member Tiffany Wallace and I love her acting abilities and the chemistry she has with the rest of the cast members. loved the episode as well.
Hopefully, OA doesn’t give a crap. I know I don’t. I wonder if Kristin is gone for good? Seems like a few people are upset and don’t like the new agent Tiffany Wallace but I like her and I hope they keep her around.
I agree. I like her too !
I think Maggie and OA work so well together I always hoped they would become a couple.
Not a fan at all of Maggie’s love interest Nestor. Seems way to forced for me. Definitely disappointed that Kristin was not on the show. I too hope it was her decision. Love the show but that first episode was not up to par.
Ebonee was the best part of the series.lead female detective weak.
Stupid story line. Masks worn briefly and then not at all. Plus, why even reference covid… so much for escapism. And mean new girl, ugh. I mostly watch for Omar & Stuart’s characters, so I’m hoping things get back on track or I’ll kick it to the curb for older shows now on netflix.
Sadly, This show is going off the rails fast.
Ebonee a major character loss, the virtual conscience of season 2.
Scola now on his 3rd partner each one contributing than their predecessor. Why not give him a K9 next? At least it would be genuine.
Nestor character is so repulsive and out of sync with the show’s DNA that I’m tempted to switch channels. Other shows are coming back soon so lots more options
I have to say I disagree a with all lot of these comments, I feel that Nestor is a good idea, finally someone to put a smile to Maggie’s face.. The new agent, I can’t really judge her off 1 show so I do hope they keep her, at least to give us a chance to see what she can offer.. I don’t understand why everyone gets so upset over a tv show. Obviously change doesn’t work for everyone.. Just give it a try.. It’s not gonna kill anyone..
