The teaser trailer for From season 3 has upped the ante. The horror show, which premiered on the streaming service MGM+ (previously Epix) in 2022, follows the goings-on in a Middle America town that is plagued by nighttime monster attacks and from which nobody who wanders in is able to leave. The lead character of the show is the Township's unofficial sheriff and mayor Boyd Stevens, played by Harold Perrineau. The ensemble cast around him also includes Catalina Sandino Moreno, Eion Bailey, David Alpay, and Elizabeth Saunders.

To celebrate the fact that the end of April is "Halfway to Halloween," MGM+ has shared an official teaser for From season 3. Check it out below:

Although it's only 30 seconds long, the teaser proves that, however bad things have been for Boyd before, they can always get much worse. After the teaser opens on a body in a wheelbarrow, Boyd is taunted for claiming that he couldn't be broken by the Township. After a few more eerie shots, he is tied up and seemingly forced to watch someone being tortured in front of him as tears well in his eyes.

Season 3 will have some very big shoes to fill. In addition to facing pressure to follow the intense From season 2 ending and offer closure on some of the show's lingering mysteries, the previous seasons have set a track record of performing enormously well with both critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, season 1 has a Certified Fresh score of 96%, while season 2 has an only slightly lower score of 92%. It remains to be seen if the new season will be received quite so well when it premieres this Fall. However, it has an ace up its sleeve in the form of From star Harold Perrineau. The actor, who cut his teeth on big screen projects including Romeo + Juliet, The Best Man, and The Matrix Reloaded in addition to major television roles on Fame, Lost, Oz, and Claws, has more than proven his ability to provide a compelling small screen performance.

His showcase scene in the From season 3 trailer reveals that he remains just as committed to the project as ever. As the pressure cooker around Boyd increases, Perrineau should have no trouble with amping up his performance to match it. The fact that the torture scene is horrifying without showing a single violent image is entirely due to his performance, which is a key element in completing the show's overarching tone of awe-inspiring horror and could very well propel the new season to be just as well-regarded as the others.
