Rooster Teeth Producers Give Promising Update On Future Of RWBY
Of all of the franchises that Rooster Teeth had as part of its adult animation roster, the most promising to have any chance of a new lease on life after the closure of the Austin-based streaming service would be RWBY and from the sounds of it a chance at a tenth volume of the series could be coming to fruition any day now.
In a new podcast featuring the CRWBY team it was noted that there are quite a few potential buyers for Rooster Teeth’s RWBY as both the catalog and the eventual tenth volume could be landing a new home within the next couple of weeks. Where that’s going to be at this point is anyone’s guess, but all buying signs sound like they are moving in the right direction.
This Friday will see the season finale of RWBY Beyond, an anthology series of animated shorts that focuses on events that occur in Remnant during and after Volume 9 that we have been reviewing weekly as they premiere.
Our Take
Here are my guesses on a new home for RWBY:
1) Crunchyroll: The Sony-owned company has been cataloging anime franchises like they are going out of business and the biggest anime streamer in the world already features a spinoff in the form of RWBY: Queendom and the proper series’ ninth volume.
2) Disney/Hulu: A dark horse candidate for me, Disney has been racking up the monster anime franchises coming out as of late and have been adapting their own franchises like Marvel and Star Wars to the art form.
3) Netflix: If only for the fact that Rooster Teeth has had history in supplying original series to Netflix who may take a flyer on all of the available content that RT has to offer just to back catalog a bunch of stuff for subscribers to watch.
Good catch on the title as I was up late writing this one, but whether or not AI is considered web3 tech is still very much in conversation. For example most of the generative Ai software today is utilizing decentralized content to assemble whatever is being prompted, with decentralization being the main cornerstone of working crypto (as opposed to non-working crypto which is where you get these messes with FTX and such). Also, any cloud-based software could in theory be considered machine language variety AI and this typically powers a lot of the token chains, programs, and even the metaverses that are out there today.
