Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: 4/5 Mar 24, 2005 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The story keeps shifting around from place to place and event to event, appearing as if the plot is made up on the spot; the film feels comprised of an improvisational, unorthodox series of vignettes. Rated: 5/10 Sep 22, 2022 Full Review Clyde Gilmour Maclean's Magazine Rosalind Russell turns in a flamboyant but beautifully controlled performance in the Hollywood version of the stage triumph. Dec 3, 2019 Full Review Charles Mudede The Stranger (Seattle, WA) To this day, I still regard Auntie Mame as one of the highest of achievements of that very American decade. Aug 23, 2018 Full Review Michael W. Phillips, Jr. Goatdog's Movies Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 18, 2008 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Base on a book and Broadway play, the movie is still too theatrical due to Da Costa's mediocre helming, but it's a great, campy and colorful showcase for comedienne Rosalind Russell in her best-known role which she had originated on stage. Jonathan C Witty...charming....feel-good....fast-talking....... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/10/24 Full Review Alec B Goofy, but Rosalind Russell's performance is comedic gold. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review Jerry R Brilliant dialogue, delivered brilliantly. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/28/23 Full Review Stephanie H One of my all time favorite films. Stellar performances from the entire cast! Rosalind Russell is a gem in this film. Colorful, witty, clever, and side splitting hilarity fills this film. A definite must watch for any film lover. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/14/23 Full Review David K This is a terrific movie. I had seen this when I was a kid and thought it was "stupid". Now, at 67, I watched again for the first time in years, decades really. What a well-scripted movie. Few could toss out the one-liners with the skill of Rosalind Russell. And, again, the script by the great team of Betty Comden and Adolph Green really showcases their skills. Fun time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/07/23 Full Review Kenneth R Auntie Mame is one of those memorable classics that everyone should see once in their life. The movie, spanning two decades, follows Mame Dennis, a New York eccentric, as she attempts to raise her nephew through the changing social climates of the Depression and it's aftermath. She falls in and out of love, meets an array of strange characters, and gets caught up in craziness wherever she goes. If you only need one reason to see this movie, it should be Rosalind Russell's epic performance as the lead. She brings Mama to life and makes the whole look effortless. The movie is let down by the racist depiction of a Japanese man who works for Mama, but that's sadly expected from a movie from this era. Overall, Auntie Mama is an interesting, exciting film that will continue to endure. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
