He passed away of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday (February 8), his publicist Tina Brausam said.
The American composer, record producer, and pianist wrote some of the biggest pop songs of the 20th century for some of the world’s most renowned artists.
Some of his biggest hits include Dionne Warwick’s I Walk on By, Aretha Franklin’s I Say a Little Prayer and Richard Chamberlain’s Close to You.
He composed hundreds of pop tracks from the late 1950s to the 1980s and won six Grammy Awards and three Oscars in his iconic career.

Burt Bacharach had a net worth of $160 million at the time of his death, Celebrity Net Worth reveals.
This was accumulated through his songwriting career which began with lyricist Hal David. They went on to have one of the successful writing partnerships in music history.
His songs have been recorded by more than 1,000 different artists and as of 2014, he had written a whopping 73 US and 52 UK Top 40 hits.
Inside his early career
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1928, Burt grew up in New York and is the son of newspaper columnist Mark Bertram Bacharach.
His mother was an amateur painter and songwriter who made him learn to play the piano as a child, but he disliked the lessons.
Nonetheless, the songwriter went on to study music at McGill University in Montreal, Mannes School of Music and Music Academy of the West in California.
After that, he was drafted into the US army and stationed in Germany. He remained in the military for two years and continued playing piano.
Whilst there, he met singer Vic Damone and became his pianist and conductor before working for a number of others musicians.
However, it wasn’t until the late 1950s, after touring with Marlene Dietrich as an arranger and conductor, that he decided he wanted to be a songwriter.
The songwriter’s TV career
Aside from writing, the 94-year-old also dabbled in TV and had cameos in some Hollywood movies.
He appeared in all three Austin Powers films and composed songs for loads more including Casino Royale, What’s New Pussycat, Night Shift, and Arthur.
Plus, he appeared in a series of TV commercials for Martini & Rossi in the 1970s with his wife at the time Angie Dickinson.
He was also a guest coach on American Idol in 2006 and featured in the BBC Electric Proms and Walt Disney Concert Hall.
