Fiske Guide recognizes Binghamton as a "premier public university in the northeast;" Kiplinger's Personal Finance and The Princeton Review call us a top value; U.S. News & World Report cites Binghamton as one of the "nation's top 50 public universities;" and Greenes' Guide named Binghamton a "public Ivy."

Binghamton is a mid-sized university made up of six schools, the largest of which is Harpur College of Arts and Sciences. There are more than 130 academic offerings and resources for optimal research opportunities. Students collaborate with distinguished faculty, learn from a diverse student body and choose from more than 1,000 study abroad programs. Ninety-one percent of freshmen return sophomore year—well above the national average of 67 percent. Binghamton is a great school for active students who want to be part of an outstanding academic program, be engaged in and outside the classroom and get involved with their campus and local community.

There are six living-and-learning residential communities, each with its own personality and traditions. Students experience a small college atmosphere at a first-rate University, and their experienced residential staff makes sure that communities enjoy over 2,000 programs each year. Our newest communities are Newing College and Dickinson Community—together they are comprised of eight residence halls and 3,000 beds.

There are 250 clubs and organizations, 21 NCAA Division I varsity teams and dozens of extracurricular club and intramural sports.
