Junior: The Governor’s School has been a very stimulating and encouraging environment to work in as a young artist. It is so rewarding to be around teachers who challenge me and peers who inspire me to be my best at what I do. Our campus is always teeming with life and activity from arts centered events to fun activities arranged by the residential staff. The school is very good at making sure that we are not only learning about our chosen art form, but also being well cultured and having a well rounded understanding and view of the humanities as a whole. The best part, perhaps, has been the friendships I’ve had the privilege to make this year. It has been such an honor to meet other students my age who are equally passionate in perusing a discipline and we all help and encourage each other throughout the year in both arts and academics. Senior: My experience with Greenville High School has been somewhat limited, but in the time that I have spent here I’d say it’s been nice. For two years I was virtual and came to Greenville only for orchestra, so I have had to spend my other two years striving for the fullest experience. I think one thing I wish was different would be the school culture. Often times my school has put promoting diversity lower on the list of priorities, but I think that it is the responsibility of not only students, but administrators and teachers to encourage and promote a more diverse school. Alum: Brashier helped prepare me for college through the dual enrollment opportunities that they offer through the local community college, Greenville Tech. This opportunity allowed me to get involved with college communities and also allowed me to get experience taking college classes while still in high school which helped boost my transcript and GPA. One thing that I wish could be improved on at Brashier is their sports offerings. Senior: My life in Riverside High School has been one of my best experiences, I have had good teachers, good friends and the opportunity to be part of the Varsity Tennis team since I was in 7th grade. Riverside High School integrates families, alumni and staff as one big community where we can all work to make our school better, a place where all the students feel happy and supported. RHS operates and offers many clubs and sports where everyone can find its place. I always feel safe. Alum: Mauldin Highschool isn’t the best Highschool in the world, but it isn’t the worst either. All the staff inside from the teachers to administration are there to help the students. Some alumni have even invited teachers to their weddings. The school is very adamant about sharing resources and in several languages for people to understand. Mauldin provides the SAT and ACT to be taken for free, as well as any other AP or college class, letting their students be ahead when it comes to applying for schools and scholarships.Students are encouraged to create clubs and communities, furthering the diverse culture already there. My only complaint would have to be the advisory program they have added in recent years. Although it’s meant to help teach students about mental health, it does so in a way that is only surface-level, and very repetitive. Other: I did BJU press online homeschool. I think It prepared me very well for college, and allowed me to be in control of my education. All 4 years of doing this, I finished school very early, because I was allowed to work ahead at my own pace. I enjoyed that they provided many ways to learn each topic, with workbooks, online quizzes and tests, videos, hands on activities, reading material, skits, and links to interactive websites. I would like to see updated videos in the future. Many of the videos seemed to be from ten or more years ago. The online portal did shut down a few times during the year, so that could be fixed, and the quizzes were always very short, so it was easy to get a very low score even if I just got one or two wrong.... Senior: During my time at Hampton Park Christian School, I loved the school culture. You can feel the love that the teachers have for the students and that the students have for each other. Senior: I’ve just graduated from Woodmont High School and my experience was pretty great. I started my 9th grade year virtual, but was very glad to begin my 10th grade year in person. The school is filled with many clubs and activities that fits the needs of everyone. There is so much involvement within the students and staff. All of the activities we had really pulled everyone together and it’s not very often that you see that outside of school. I couldn’t have seen myself at any other High School. I would recommend this school to any incoming high schoolers. The administrators made sure that everyone was college and career ready and showed that the really cared. The teachers were very open with us and made it easy for us to go to them for help or if we just needed someone to talk to. I can’t say that I had any bad days due to school because my classes were fun, challenging, but easy to work through.
