My experience at Athens High School has been good. I moved to Athens in 9th grade from East Limestone. Athens has some of the best facilities and resources I've seen. Athens has had every class and opportunity I have ever wanted and more. One of the things Athens can improve on though is the overall curriculum. Some of the class material is pretty out dated and I think students would learn more with more updated materials. The teachers and administration are great and do their job. The teachers and administration definitely make you feel respected and safe. The Athens community is great and I am glad I moved there.
Athens High School is a safe environment for learning and growth. Compared to other schools I have attended, their academic standards are focused on the students who attend Athens. I am amazed by the staff and their diligence in teaching the new generation of adults.
My experience at AHS was good for the most part, the staff and students are very welcoming and loving. I think the worst parts of AHS were definitely the awareness of diversity; there was so many different cultures and races and nationalities, but they weren't really acknowledged or recognized. Another thing that wasn't so great was the dress code situations, when girls would wear ripped jeans or nose piercings or shorter sleeved shirts, we were told that we were trying to appeal to the male gaze. As a 14–18-year-old trying to figure out how to find themself in the real world and expressing themselves in different ways, nobody wants to be told that they are just trying to please the male audience. Some of the better things was the diversity and that everyone grew up together, so we were all acquainted with each other. When new students would come, they were welcomed into the school like anybody else would.
