Magnolia Lyrics
[Verse 1: John Mayer]
Whip-poor-will singing
Soft summer breeze
Makes me think of my baby
I left down in New Orleans
I left down in New Orleans
[Verse 2: John Mayer]
Magnolia, you sweet thing
You're driving me mad
Gotta get back to you, babe
You're the best I ever had
You're the best I ever had
[Verse 3: John Mayer]
You whisper "Good morning"
So gently in my ear
I'm coming home to you, babe
I'll soon be there
I'll soon be there
[Verse 4: John Mayer]
Magnolia, you sweet thing
You're driving me mad
I've gotta get back to you, babe
You're the best I ever had
You're the best I ever had
You're the best I ever had
You're the best I ever had
You're the best I ever had
You're the best I ever had
Whip-poor-will singing
Soft summer breeze
Makes me think of my baby
I left down in New Orleans
I left down in New Orleans
[Verse 2: John Mayer]
Magnolia, you sweet thing
You're driving me mad
Gotta get back to you, babe
You're the best I ever had
You're the best I ever had

What did Eric Clapton say about "Magnolia"?
Genius Answer
Via Amazon Music:
One of the collaboration I’m the proudest of in my life is a track that I recorded with none other than Mr. Eric Clapton. He asked me to contribute to a tribute album to the late great J.J. Cale which I jumped at the opportunity to take part in and he suggested that we played Magnolia by J.J. and we had a beautiful day in the studio and it’s a such a gorgeous delicate recording at Eric’s suggestion and with he’s spirit up and down and one opportunity to make the song with Eric and to harmonize with the melody that’s my favorite thing to do, be on the record, harmonizing with Mr. Eric Clapton.
