Very surprised by this one.
Really funny throughout, with a level of interweaving story that kept me genuinely invested to a point where I forgot that what I was watching wasn't real. Sex Sells uses these really long takes that help it delve into this realism further, and these are good takes, with actual reasoning behind their length. This film clearly has a lot to say about public perception of the porn industry and, although sprinkled with the occasional overplayed insight, there are some very valid points being made.
There's so much to love about this, and again, I'm so surprised by what this actually was.

I agree with some of the other reviews that this was a surprisingly satisfying experience (Get your mind out of the gutter!). Yes, there's lots of T&A here and the tagline of "Boogie Nights meets Spinal Tap" is pretty close to accurate. However, this is pretty darn funny with characters you actually enjoy and a story that matters in the middle of it all.
I watched this for all the wrong reasons and found myself enjoying it for all the right reasons (not that there's anything wrong with T&A, too!).

I gave this four stars only because it's about the porn industry. This mokumentory though isn't about the sex (which there is plenty enough) it's about the people and it was a fun watch. It's one of those movies that your not sure if the acting if that good or that bad because the people actually seem real so it could go either way.

surprisingly well-made, well-acted, and well-written commentary on the adult entertainment industry that was unlike anything i have ever seen. a mockumentary-style approach to a taboo topic that is made even more taboo with a soap opera-like twist that actually ends up breathing a lot of life into this narrative. for a film from 2005, it is very impressive and daring for a culture that still hesitates when talking about sex. the comedic element of this film was one of my favorite parts, it really humanized the whole film and never overshadowed the plot or actors.

A mockumentary on the making of a porn movie that is actually really funny, well acted and even a bit touching. I really enjoyed this (And the sentiment that fueled it) and laughed out loud several times. May not be everyone's cup of tea, but I was thoroughly entertained. Also, Bang Sugar Bang are the band playing the 2 punk songs in this and yours truly shared a stage with them a couple times around 15 years ago (when I was in Dead City Rejects). Which is utterly rad!
