Arrived around 3:30 pm on Thurs 6/11, for a 1 night stay on my way to Vegas. Check in was a breeze. I stayed in bldg #7, 2nd floor overlooking a pool. Good ice machine very close by in a locked/secure room. Sufficient security on golf carts. Low $5 minimums on craps table. Tons and tons of smokers and nar do well local clientele in their casino.

The room was super clean; bed spreads, linens, etc. were sufficiently nearly new. Gone are the days of little 3d cardboard boxes on the toilet reminding people to properly dispose of their SYRINGES (as it did happen in my 6/2019 stay.) I was w/o my dog on this trip. The AC was very good, and not 2 noisy when I had the fan turned up. Many, many cable channels, and easy to use & extravagant remote add ons for things like: closed captioning, revert to the last channel, detailed description of specific episodes on programs. Bathroom was good; yes, their bars of soap are small and barely bigger than a 50 cent piece (SO DON'T COMPLAIN -- IT WAS FINE.)

I learned last summer that their pool was not heated.

We attended an event in Mesquite where the sponsor paid for the room. The room was greatly out dated and there was dog hair through out the room when we arrived. Yes we brought our small dog but the cleaning staff clearly had not cleaned from one or more of the previous guests. The sink area was so small that we could not leave any personal care items out. The tub area needed a good cleaning as well.

If it was not a sponsor paid room we would have left and found other accommodations.

A much older style casino, with a decent room and pool. It's not a youthful place, but for the price, it makes it a good stop for a night on a road trip. I spend NYE here this year due to a friend staying there and get used to a much older crowd.

Check in was fine and if you are too early and your room isn't ready, they can check you in and give you a paper copy that you can then return to a separate section at the front desk to get your keys rather than waiting in the check out line again. This may be only for special event weekends or maybe all the time, unsure.

Room was fairly updated, newer flat screen TV's, clean, had tables and outlets near the beds. The bed was comfortable and you don't get much noise as it's far enough from the interstate to not be bothered by traffic noise.

There are quite a few buildings, some around the pool, some not. So if you intend on swimming, you might need to let them know.

Booking is done via old school phone number. I wasn't able to do it anywhere onlnie at all, but for last min travellers, you could just stop in and get a room without even making a reservation on most nights I'm sure.

Casino is older as expected, though they have bowling, a sports book (low sound levels though), Bingo hall and other things.

The buffet is hugely popular, especially on seafood Friday at 3pm where there is a good long line (and hear this is often how it is and was not just because of a holiday weekend). My friends ate at it and loved it they said, and decent prices too for it. I ate there the next morning as they wanted to go back and good to know even in the morning, I could get pizza, fried chicken, stirfry and a lot of other options that weren't just breakfast style which I don't like.

One of or if not the cheapest place in Mesquite for a room and I also know friends that often stay there for a night driving back to California to avoid the high prices in Las Vegas.

Not far from hiking options too in Utah either, though not a lot to do in town, so wouldn't think this would be a 2 or more night place unless you intend on driving to different locations in Arizona or Utah around there...

I live in Vegas and the casinos there, while not always as strict as they should be are far above what I witnessed at Virgin River. The plastic barriers between machines seem to be what they consider safe, but NO social distancing, machines too close together and too close to the ATM's, players with masks around their chins and smokers simply don't keep them on. No security or management doing a thing about it. The furniture in our room was broken (table and arm rests on chair), the chair cushions horribly stained and dirty. You get what you pay for here. Don't be surprised if your club card swipe garners you a free hotdog almost all the time you play...those better food comps are hard to get and they no longer give away free buffets.

The hotel only had towels for one person. Contacted the front desk and they said that they were low on inventory. All the rooms had towel shortage. Not much for amenities in the room. Shower soap dispenser was empty, seems like they ran out of soap and was never refilled. The room price was very low on our first visit, but the second visit several days later the price tripled with no additional towels. Quite bad on the towel situation. The Virgin River Cafe had very good food and the staff was very helpful at the restaurant.

I've been in 3 casinos in Mesquite, Eureka, Virgin River, and Copacabana. Virgin River and Copacabana has the same owner Mesquite Gaming. Eureka and Copacabana both have hotel like rooms, attached to main builidng. Virgin River is detached like Motel buildings. Copacabana is the most upscale. Eureka and Virgin River are across from each other. I would stay at copacaba first because the rooms are the best. Then Virgin River because I like the gaming and comps here. Now the Virgin River motel has 3 floors. The rooms are like motel rooms. The air conditioning wasn't great when I was there. Cheap small bar of soap and communal bath and shampoo dispenser on the wall. The towels are old and not soft. There is sign on the wall threatening to charge you if you take the towels. The bed is pretty comfortable though. The TV is hard to navigate. You can't scroll up and down the menu on the remote to find something to watch. Only 2 of the buildings have a pool where you don't have to walk. Overall, not great but acceptable accomodations. Pet friendly with deposit. All the casinos have $5 craps and blackjacks. Slot play is best at copacabana because they have lots of slots. I like virgin river because it seems to be the loosest slots for me. Also the comps appear to best. Most of the time you can get a free hot dog just for logging into your players comp account on a daily basis. The best midnight specaials are here too. Hot tubs not opereating during covid but pools are. Not heated outside. Join players club for free rooms during next visit. I get 4 free rooms a month for minimum gambling.

While the intent is to get the customer to gamble, if one does not have the "bug", this is a very clean, inexpensive location to spend the night while traveling. The breakfast either at the buffet, or "hamsteak and eggs" at the cafe, are added bonuses if you don't mind walking through the smoke-filled casino to get there.

There was also plenty of desidnated parking for our lengthy trailer.

My husband and I booked with hotels.com 08/30/2021-09/04/2021. On 09/01/2021 from 7am-10am our room phone kept ringing while we were asleep. It was front desk stating that we had “pets” in our room and staff with security kept knocking on our door all morning as well. Once, housekeeping even opened our door but was stopped by the security chain. Staff asked permission to search our room which we allowed them to (even while I was in the middle of a shower. My husband was upset at the violation of our privacy and the extent of the staffs harassment so he went to the front desk. When he returned he was upset and said we had 20 mins to get out. We were kicked out because we had two service dogs that were registered, and had all documentation for them, provided it to the hotel, to no avail. After packing, I went to front desk to check out. At this time we still had 2 days that we paid for in advance left, along with a deposit, they also attempted a $250 pet deposit and another $10 “purchase”. None of which I authorized. On Saturday on my hotels.com account I saw the receipt from the hotel dated Saturday 09/04/2021. On it they still billed us for the last two days that they knew we were no longer staying there, because they told us to leave. The staff broke several ADA laws involving service animals in public places and denying myself of the normal accommodations that are extended to people without disabilities. Pet friendly is the farthest thing from what they are.

This picture below was taken on our stay previously. Keep in mind that it is COVID season and this is what our ac unit filters looked like when we walked into our room. Dirty air filters while a pandemic is active via airborne??? Also half used rolls of toilet paper in bathroom, even found a vibrator under dresser that tv was on!!!

Checked into this property late on a weekday night intending to stay for a week. Aside from the rather rude woman working the concierge, the property looked decent. A little old in perhaps a few places, but nothing out of the ordinary for a casino in the middle of nowhere, Of course given my luck I had to be placed at the room unit building as far away as possible from the casino. This wasn't so bad since there was ample parking in front, but it was annoying nonetheless because of how hot it could be during the day (105-110). The rooms themselves have fair, spacious amenities, yet no fridge or microwave for some reason. Housekeeping staff was friendly though and cleaned the rooms promptly in the morning. The food at the buffet tasted decent, Honestly was no where close to some other casino buffets I've eaten at elsewhere but considering the price, I definitely did not feel cheated. There was also a hot dog cart selling hot dogs for .75 each. Though after seeing the attitude on the person working it, I decided to skip it on later days. The gambling is where I had my biggest issue. I play black jack and craps and the dealers in all of these games are super unfriendly if not outright abrasive. Taking off your mask to have a drink or smoke usually gets you chastised (though the cocktail ladies were all very nice). On the last night I was playing there I was playing craps and drinking a few Long Island iced teas. Anyway, this one box guy got angry about how I would unintentionally, occasionally through one of the die out of the table. This is to be expected in a game like craps, but later on I am told I had been warned too many times for "slamming dice" and am gone and can no longer play that night. Ironically right after I was starting to get some of the hundreds of dollars I had tipped and donated to their casino over the past few hours. Either that or me being the only person playing craps, they were just too lazy to keep having 4 people working for hours on end for a guy playing the table minimum. Because I still have no idea what "slamming dice" means. If they are referring to taping the dice on the table before shooting (common superstitious ritual among players throughout the country) then maybe I would have known what he was talking about, but I adamantly was not slamming anything. Regardless, I was offended so I went over to the blackjack table and when I sit down I am told I can't play there either until tomm. I have played in literally every single casino in the Las Vegas Valley along with dozens more back East and I have NEVER been treated this way as loyal patron. I seriously advice any self-respecting casino goer to kindly avoid this property at all costs. However, if you are just looking for a place to bowling, eat a cheap/average meal, and pay $27 a night for a comfortable bed and pool access, this may be a reasonable stay for you. Though in the latter case, I really think you would struggle to find much else to do in this town other than gamble.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights. Very friendly staff. The room is exactly what we expected, except for a few problems. They have sign in the room if you take a towel, pillow, etc you will be charged. That is fine, but make sure all items on the list are in the room. We were missing a small towel and bathmat. I called the front desk and those missing items were noted.

The other issue was the shower/bathtub would not drain properly. It took an hour for 3" of water to drain. Fix these issues and you would have gotten a 4* review. Easy fixes.

Great casino, sports book, pools, arcade, bowling alley, quick internet, many channels on the TV, easy parking. I will return again on my next visit to Mesquite Nevada.
