She was the most amazing 3rd grade teacher. I am 48 now and by far still my most favorite teacher of all time. May you sit next to the Lord and chat and laugh together. I know you are teaching others in heaven.

Mrs. Burgess was my 3rd grade English teacher at Bethune in 1987. I disliked wearing my glasses, which were new that year, and she would always ask me where they were in class. This is one of my earliest memories of making up excuses to not get in trouble. She´d always laugh with my mom about my far fetched reasons. Was also blessed that she substituted for my daughter in school in 2015-16 and we ended up as neighbors. One of my favorite teachers. You will be missed Mrs. Mary.
