Mix and match to create crazy critters; children may play solo or in groups. Each of four cooties assembles with 6 legs, mouth part, ears/hat, and eyes. Perfect for younger children because there is no reading required; parental instructions in English and Spanish. Manufacturer in the USA; die made in China. For 2 to 4 children ages 3 to 6 years.

This classic game has been around for nearly half a century and is just as fun as ever. The bugs' faces are a bit goofier than before, but the object remains the same: to be the first to create your own Cootie. Just arrange the bug parts on the fold-out board and roll the die to win the parts you need. (Roll a 1 and pick a body, roll a 2 and select a head, roll a 3, etc.) Body parts are made of hard plastic and come in various mix-and-match colors. Small pieces are a danger to young children, so supervision is recommended. Instructions in English and Spanish. --Tom Keogh

I play this all the time with my 4 year old. It's a good beginner game for teaching about turn taking, and basic game principles. I was a little disappointed that this wasn't exactly the same as the version I played with when I was a kid. It doesn't feel as tough and sometimes you have to really work to get the leg pieces to fit into the body.
Bought this for my 3 year old for her birthday and she absolutely loves this game and requests it often. I bought it to introduce her to board games. It's great for hand eye coordination and learning to wait your turn and follow directions. It's also a great game to teach patience when you can't get a piece yet because you already have it. Some of the shoes don't stay on all the way, which is a little annoying, but it doesn't bother our family. The rest of the pieces fit perfectly.
Boy, the good old days of toys are really gone, aren't they?? To manufacturers' credit, they reissue the classic games so that parents can share some of our favorites with our kids - that's a great thing. However, they are SO flimsy these days that it defies belief... I know these games are inexpensive, but still - a quarter of the legs don't stay in the holes and another quarter barely go into the holes, the eyes and mouths have to be forced in, the hats and heads don't stay on when being toddler-handled... My mother (65+) still has HER version of the game, and it STILL WORKS FINE, all the pieces go in and stay in. If that is possible, it's got to be possible to make a version today that can withstand toddlers...
Still, my daughter doesn't know that it's not as well made as it could/should be - she loves it, right up until she gets so frustrated trying to put the cooties together that she looks up at me with tears in her big blue eyes asking why the cooties don't like her lol... I tell her they love her, and help her put them together and everything is as it should be again - but it'd be nice if the game could be used by its target audience without mommy intervention!
I had this game as a child and had so many fond memories of it. I was semi excited to see the updates (getting to choose different hats, feet, eyes) but learned quickly with small children different color bodies would have been enough. That's just a learning phase we will get through. Anyway, what I was sad to see was the drop in quality. Several pieces were difficult to put on and most of the legs fall off as soon as you pick them up. I forget the age requirement but as a toddler/young child age ga,e you'd expect them to want to walk them around and show them off, I remember doing that myself.
I still rated this four stars because it's still useable and my kids loved it. It teachers math, matching, patience, and engineering all important for young growing minds.
Got this for my 5yo for Christmas. He loves it. Would recommend the pieces go in a plastic bag inside the box since it’s a little flimsy. Great product!
My three year old granddaughter loves this game. Because it is entirely based on the luck of the roll of the dice she has as much chance of winning as any of the adults she plays with. The cooties are cuter than I remember them being when I was a kid and the addition of different colored bodies and heads and different features and feet makes the game even more fun. The only hard part of the game is keeping all the pieces together once the game is over.
My grandchild was very excited on Christmas day when she unwrapped it.She played itiimmediately and found it very fun to play especially since she won!
