A Fellow is capable to identify client's needs through a comprehensive risk analysis process, within a specialist insurance environment. Conduct an analysis of the practice of insurance or provide guidance or an opinion on an underwriting process, claims management, risk management, and any other practice within the practice of insurance. Provide advice on insurance related solutions. Demonstrate specialized skills in a field with the Insurance/financial services sector or related field. Demonstrate leadership skills and people's skills or leadership skills in a particular environment and understand corporate governance.

A Fellow is a practicing professional who can operate in senior management positions or in a specialist role or specialist insurance operations such as an intermediary or underwriting management agency.

An Associate is a practicing professional who is capable of identifying client's needs through a comprehensive risk analysis process, within a specialist insurance environment, is capable of developing a risk management plan that will assist the client to mitigate, avoid or manage the identified insurance risks including specialist insurance risks.

A Licentiate is a practicing professional who is capable of identifying client 's needs through a comprehensive risk analysis process and, with a general view, is capable of developing a risk management plan that will assist the client to mitigate, avoid or manage the identified insurance risks.

The general membership category has been reviewed and will no longer have three different levels (Level 1, 2 and 3). All general members will now fall into one category. The following qualifications/certificates are considered for an individual to be recognised within the general membership category.

This category caters for individuals who have the following qualifications/certificates:

• Matric certificate or
• Equivalent NQF Level 4

For an individual to be recognised for this membership category, they must be studying towards an insurance qualification or a qualification that could be recognised for professional designations or a qualification as approved by the FSCA for FAIS purposes.
