But before he does, he confesses his feelings to Nao only to be rejected… kind of. She makes a deal that if he succeeds, that’s when she will reciprocate.

He’s successful but this means he has no memories whatsoever. Even if it was a known risk, Nao couldn’t help but cry over the man she rejected.

Unlike most people who would choose to move on, Junichi pursued Haruka even more, (and got rejected even more), but still in the end, they both got a happy ending.
