This was the home of Queen Victoria's eldest daughter so if good enough for Victoria, it should be good enough for anyone! It is a grand hotel, with a beautiful terrace to enjoy meals and cocktails. The hotel was very thoughtful and had hand sanitizers well placed throughout the hotel. We had our anniversary dinner in the restaurant and the food was superb; 5/5 for the restaurant. A shout out to Shobin who was a fantastic server. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We were so impressed, we left a note for the manager to commend his service. We think he is training the other staff which is good as not everyone lives up to his level of service but I'm sure they will get there. Thank you for a lovely stay.

I stumbled upon this property by accident, and needless to say, I was excited to have the opportunity of staying in a castle merely 30 minutes away from Frankfurt. I always yearn for a unique experience which is often hard to find in a city that could be anywhere in the world. For this stay we booked a mid level balcony room, which was upgraded to a huge one bedroom suite with a terrace that could only be described as excessive in size. Now, given the age of the hotel, the room was spacious and comfortable, but can’t be described as luxurious or studded with modern amenities. I couldn’t find a way to control the temperature of the room for example, and the bathroom for this particular room did not have a proper separate shower. With that said, the room oozed out with character and charm. It was comfortable with familiar amenities and it certainly was spacious. The public spaces however were absolutely beautiful and regal. The opportunity to stay on a castle with all the imagined grandeur and history associated on such a structure was certainly palpable from the halls, to the stairs, to the lobby and every corner. The service in the hotel was friendly and reserved. If you needed help, service was available for any requests, but if you want privacy and solitude, you were certainly left to mind your own business. The friendly service was on display all around from check-in, to the restaurant, and the morning buffet. Dining at Enrico, an Italian/German restaurant was a treat. The restaurant was filled with antique pieces, and the ambiance was charming and elegant. We tried several of their appetizers, then also ordered their salmon, steak, and spaghetti bolognese, all were delicious. The morning buffet was abundant and regal. Though the selection for the hot options were limited, everything was of high quality and again the service was fantastic. Location of the hotel was an easy 30 min Uber ride from Frankfurt airport. We also spent a few hours exploring nearby Kronberg on foot and allowed ourselves to get lost on the charming village. This definitely made staying here even more special as the surrounding golf course, easy and walkable nearby village all made staying here a unique experience. We had an excellent weather so we lucked out and explored the historic Kronberg Castle which was certainly a highlight of our stay. Selfishly, I’d like this place to remain hidden, but if you’re in Frankfurt and are looking for unique and charming stay from the familiar and ordinary, the Schlosshotel is worth an experience.

Fabulous setting. Within 30 min of Frankfurt airport, but feels like another world. Self-parked right in front of main door. We arrived at 11:00 am after a long flight. Front desk was very accommodating and allowed us to checkin early (2 days prior, we gave them a heads up we’d be arriving early). No one was at the front door when we arrived, which made for a GREAT entry sequence ... just like the Father going into Beast’s castle...Staircase, Giant Cogsworth Clock, huge tapestries. Everything but the talking candlestick! Charming. Room type was a Grand Parkview Double — had a nice balcony with 2 chairs and table. Room was comfortable and nicely appointed although not as grandiose as the lobby. ... Nice fireplace/couches in the lobby to read a book.

Atmosphere in the hotel really nice, very beautiful environment, green and silent. I was responsible for a two-days workshop. Support there was limited. It took long to get additonal standard equipment like pens and technical equipment did not work. We had problems with two computers due to virus problems of the dia-projector. Even though room for the meeting was great, I would never visit the hotel again for a business meeting due to a very delayed response after asking for help (pens 5 hours, technical support after 3 hours).

Planned to visit the Schlosshotel Kronberg as part of a longer journey on the way home to Denmark. Before even going, we wanted to book a table in the restaurant for the evening and was told, that the only thing we could, was joying the BBQ event, which was buffet for 89 euro each ex drinks. We found it really expensive, but didn't see any other option. On the day of arrival we got stock in traffic and could see, that our arrival wouldn't be before 8pm. Called the reception to find out if we could do some in-room dining instead of the BBQ buffet, when arriving so late. And here the service was hard to find.. First of all, we were here informed that there actually was other opportunities for dinner than the BBQ buffet, which we initially wasn't told. Secondly we were informed that the BBQ buffet was from 6-9 pm, meaning that we would have only one hour for this. And that a cancellation should have been done 7 days in advance. All of the information was news to us at this point. But they would make sure, that the buffet would be open for sometime longer for us. So we arrived and what happend. The buffet was taken away at 9pm sharp. Next thing is the bar. Came in to the bar at 10pm and was told that the bar was closing and we couldn't get anything. Asked if we could have something to bring to the room and after staff consideration we could have beer or wine - no cocktails. In the folder in the room, the opening hours of the bar is until 11pm. Besides this, poor wifi and some of the staff that really didn't meet the guests in a friendly way. Looking at the price level and what we got out of it, we feel pretty ripped for 1 hour buffet for 89 euro each and the lacking service level in a stunning place like this.

I will say that you are not getting POSH, but you are getting a serious experience. The vibe is excellent, you can almost walk to "town" for a killer meal in a very low key environment. Room service was excellent, and "breakfast/brunch" is low key and high quality. I recently wrote a review about my one night stay at the Dorchester in London, many of the same vibes but FAR better, and way less money, not that was the issue. I have recently recommended to a close friend who was going to be in the area that wanted a "castle" experience.

My husband and I started our trip of a lifetime with a week at Schlosshotel Kronberg. While the Schloss and grounds are nothing short of spectacular, the thing that put our visit over the top was the impeccable service and hospitality of the team. Each person who helped us met us with great enthusiasm for the Schloss, it's history, amenities and charm. Our room was comfortable and quiet with a lovely view of the golf course. The bathroom left nothing wanting and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a treat everyday and dinner on the terrace was delicious and very relaxing. We ended our stay by having drinks on the terrace above which a party was taking place. The party was beautiful and we were unwitting recipients of the great music and glamour of the night. To top it off the bar manager came around to check on us and crafted personal cocktails for us based on our individual tastes. Delicious and fun! Shlosshotel Kronberg is perfectly situated, close to Frankfurt but not so close as to feel the hustle bustle of the city. The little town of Kronberg is also delightful and offers services that one might need while traveling as well. We look forward with great anticipation for our next opportunity to visit!

I felt the need to write this review after reading another that mentioned the staff was unfriendly and racist. I have to wholeheartedly disagree with this from my personal experience. As an Asian woman travelling alone, I booked this hotel just 40 minutes on my phone before I arrived due to a mishap with another hotel reservation. Schlosshotel had a room available and I, without any car, took a walk from the old town, through the park and golf course to the hotel. I arrived with my muddy shoes and a backpack at the beautiful entrance in shock of how refined this place was, and how dreadful I looked. But the staff gave me the utmost warmest welcome that I have ever received in Germany and I will never forget their hospitality. During the whole stay I was made comfortable and felt like I was a guest in someone's home (or castle). For dinner as the restaurant was booked out, I curled up on a couch in the lobby and immediately someone came to light up the fireplace to make it more cozy for me. The breakfast spread was also very delicious. And the rooms make you feel like you've entered a fairytale. I look forward to returning again this year!

The manor palace, if there is such a thing, of the Kaiserin Friedrich is a spectacular building, but it has a lot of quirkiness. Still owned by the same family (the current Landgraf sat next to us for lunch, not saying hello to a single guest), and with lots of antiques, it has true genius loci, but hotel guests are not welcome in the common rooms anymore, compete with the golfers for parking space and with an army of weddings for that inside, and the bedrooms are mostly former staff and even servant rooms, if again with spectacular views. The breakfast is high quality, but not in the standard five-star L way. Big, not refilled bottles of shampoo and soap in the bathroom, in this category? Golf course yes, but of course no pool, no gym. So, in a way one wants to say sorry for staying here, but then again not. This is not a chain, not even a mini chain (the Hessische Hausstiftung closed the fabulous sister hotel in downtown Frankfurt just a few years ago), and the management tries to cut costs and corners, but then, in a very Grossherzogliche Art und Weise. Prices are actually not high for what one gets, charme and spirit are unsurpassed, the very young management team is genuinely friendly and tries hard, and so it certainly is an experience well worth having – if one doesn’t expect 2023 luxury hotel standard at all, but rather a visit to a wealthy but somewhat grouchy great-uncle. Which is certainly better than the standardized experience you can get everywhere.

Dear Aethelred, thank you very much for your largely good rating and also for sharing these impressions with us. We are very sorry that your experience was not consistently perfect and satisfactory. That is not our claim and we will work on the points mentioned internally and discuss them in detail. We take customer feedback very seriously and also want to assure you that your words have been and will continue to be communicated. However, there is one point where we cannot change much and that would be the theme of the rooms. Our hotel is a listed building and each room is therefore completely different and can hardly be changed. We have made every effort to furnish each of the rooms individually with many loving details. We would be happy to show you a few different rooms on your next visit so that you can choose the one that suits you best. We remain with grateful greetings from Kronberg.

This is by far the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in, I love history and the connection to the British Royals via the Empress Frederick, Queen Victoria's eldest daughter makes it extra special. Royal visitors include Queen Victoria, Edward VII, the last Kaiser, Tsar Nicholas II and Alexandra, other queens etc. We use this as a "rest & relax" place for the last few days of vacation before the long flight home. Such a special place, five star service from check-in to check-out. We had the Grand Castle Balcony room on top of the five story turret on the north side, private spiral stairs, no rooms next door, nice size room with lots of light from three sides with views of Frankfurt and a huge balcony with 180 views of the Taunus Mtns, table and chairs for breakfast, reading or coffee. Great view looking down on the roof and other turrets, able to see details like the copper finials, slate tiles, chimney pots etc. as well as a great view of the porte cochere and other hidden details. Luxury bed, down pillows, robes & slippers, towel warmer, plenty of hanging space, drawers, shelves and a writing desk. Small fridge with gratis soft drinks, also a place to chill your own. Requests were taken care of in minutes, anything you need they will provide. Fabulous interiors with museum quality furniture, clocks, art, books etc. You can spend a whole day admiring the exquisite collections. Only negatives were the restaurant was closed for two nights, you could get breakfast but only dinner options were the bar menu which was limited, the new Italian restaurant falls short of the menus and food of our last visit, wish they offered more traditional options. Short walk to Kronberg Castle and town center with 15th century and older buildings. The grounds are a delight with exotic trees artfully planted, some enormous Sequoias and Redwoods, weeping forms etc., the rose garden and other plantings are worth exploring. You can explore outbuildings like the old stables, Hoffmarshalls house, bier-garten and others. Treat yourself to a luxury stay at this five star hotel, even if only three nights, you won't be disappointed.
