INTERPOL TIMES: WE TALK WITH THE FOUNDER OF THE HARDCORE AND PUNK FANZINE
Zines are always part of the Underground culture, and we are always on the lookout for a Zine story whether it be from the 1970s punkzine heyday to the contemporary zine culture that embraces diverse subcultures.
From our in-depth coverage of the Original Punk scene in Istanbul we were lucky enough to engage in conversation with Emre Aktas, hailing from Istanbul, who co-founded and operated the defunct German & UK hardcore/punk label Scene Police. Established in February 1997 and concluding its operations in December 2003 after releasing 40 records.
Emre Aktas, along with Dennis-P. Merklinghaus, also co-founded and ran the HC & Punk Fanzine Interpol Times which ran from 1993 to 2003 and maintains an active presence on Facebook, curated by Emre and Dennis themselves.
We sit down with Emre to talk about the fanzine and the label.
