Palette Primary Colors - Free Orchestral Kontakt Library - Beat Production

Palette Primary Colors – Free Orchestral Kontakt Library

Free strings, woodwinds and brass ensembles library featuring three dynamic layers and seven round-robin variations per sampled note.

Palette – Primary Colors is an orchestral kontakt library by Red Room Audio. It’s a free version based on the label’s larger commercial Palette sound packs. Check out the video below to find out what you’re getting:

The included 1.3 GB of orchestral sounds were handpicked from Red Room Audio’s premium Palette product line. In the free Palette library you only get fewer articulations and a single microphone position, the full version offers a lot more. This is by no means a throwaway product though! The free version already offers dynamic layers and round-robin variations – just like the premium version. In terms of instruments, the free library has strings, woodwinds, and brass ensembles, so it’s often enough for hip hop beats to get by. I see the premium version more for soundtrack producers who needs a wider variety of sounds.

The interface of this orchestral kontakt library looks clean and you have access to the different articulations and  performance controls, like tremolo and vibrato as well as a simple mixer. You will need the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5.7 or higher to properly use it. While it starts in the free Kontakt Player, there’s a time limit of fifteen minutes, after which it will be silent and you will need to reload the plugin to hear sound again. This is the demo limitation of the free Kontakt Player and you might have experienced this with other libraries already.

If you’re on a budget, but want a top-of-the-line orchestral kontakt library, then we highly recommend Palette – Primary Colors – it’s available for free download via Red Room Audio (1.2 GB download size, ZIP archive, NKI format for Native Instruments Kontakt).
