Campolindo High School Reviews
Rating 4.01 out of 5 303 reviews
My experience at Campolindo High School has been amazing. Though the school lacks diversity due to its suburban and isolated location, it has pretty welcoming culture and strong school spirit. I have been provided with the necessary resources and assistance throughout my years at Campolindo. The teachers are for the most part professional, understanding, and helpful educators. The school campus is extremely safe and almost feels like a smaller college campus. I have been involved on campus in things such at leadership, football, equity clubs, and school events. The worst part of my experience was the cafeteria food, though healthy and edible, the food is sometimes overcooked or stale. Otherwise, Campolindo High School is with no doubt a top notch high school that prepares its students for college.
A previous Alum stated the following problems. The school still has a major diversity issue. A program sends students who are "different" to independent study to retain test scores. Parents volunteer to review standardized testing answers to correct mistakes. Teachers aren't supportive of students who aren't involved in sports or who have diverse backgrounds. I was one of those different students. My peers were awful. I was bullied for my differences in an unheard-of prejudicial fashion, even being sexually harassed on multiple occasions. One teacher in the music department didn't help since they were terrible at discipline and let the bullying progress to the point where I attempted to take my own life. What shocked me the most was the major opioid issue on campus, overdoses, and suicides. Plus, various personal instances of racism were never disclosed by close friends of mine until years later. Campolindo management and the town of Moraga's support are awful. Don't go. Stay away.
This school has something for every academic level and personal interest to prepare for college readiness. There is a lot of pressure to over-achieve but also support along the way. I applied for colleges that I was told I would probably not get into and ended up getting into nine out of eleven of them with only one being a denial and another being a waitlist opportunity. The campus is very open and inviting. If you want to be around a lot of people, you can and if you are more private, there are plenty of spaces to be alone. While expectations are very high, I've enjoyed the overall experience.
