What started off as a whirlwind romance takes an unexpected turn when Mark discovers his beautiful bride-to-be is plotting against him. 1 star because you can’t compete with British humour (don’t try and convince me otherwise)
Half a star because it was a good attempt and had a pretty funny storyline
Aside from some tasteless jokes that don't really fly in the #metoo era, this was a pretty charming little comedy from Mark Murphy (not the "Chopped" judge, this guy has a letterboxd account!)
Samantha Barks is great as per üze and Tanya Reynolds is her usual scene-stealing hot self (seriously, hook me up with her Mark) in the couple scenes she's in.
Excited to see what Mr. Markey Mark Murphy and his funky bunch with scurvy does next. I hope they suck on some citrus.

i am so very ashamed i saw this film. my mum wanted to watch it and i thought it sounded quite interesting,,, and then as you get in you realise it’s about an immature man with very tasteless jokes! ignoring the lowkey sexual assault that i was supposed ??? to laugh at ??? and the mother ??? making this other man very uncomfortable ??? and nobody said a word ???? nothing about this film was enjoyable

Billed as a “unromantic comedy”, this UK comedy follows Mark (Robert Kazinsky, Pacific Rim), an average but lovable guy who crosses paths with his old school acquaintance Connie (Samantha Barks, Les Miserables), who learns that he’s worth millions thanks to a startup company and she decides to give a whirlwind romance a go and Mark pops the question to her while she schemes with Johnny (Ed Speleers, “Outlander”) to make off with the cash the moment Mark says “I do”. However, their scheme comically falls apart when Mark gets wind of the con and he makes a scheme of his own: make Connie’s life a living hell to the point where she’ll have no choice but to regret…

In my opinion, Samantha Barks should be in way more movies. She was the best part of Les Miserables and the best part in this.
If you think you're not liking this, keep watching for the second half because that is the best. It is indeed, like marketed, very un-romantic.
Also I just found out this is a remake [EDIT: it's not] of something that has already been made multiple times but I've never heard of it.... and Kendra was played by the girl that played Wendy in Peter Pan!

like the synopsis says, except I wouldn't describe it as starting off as a "whirlwind romance" or say there was ever much of a real romance in the narrative; like the subtitle says, it's an "unromantic comedy". this movie was pretty bad objectively speaking, but we poured another glass of wine and had a good stupid fun cheap laugh or two. ridiculous :)
its production seems fine enough and the rest of it; just don't expect, you know, much.
