When Markgräfin Elisabeth Sophie von Brandenburg was born on 26 March 1674, in Brandenburg, Heiligenbeil, East Prussia, Prussia, Germany, her father, Friedrich Wilhelm I von Brandenburg, was 54 and her mother, Prinzessin Dorothea von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, was 37. She married Friedrich II. Kasimir Kettler, Herzog von Kurland und Semgallen on 29 April 1691. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. She died on 22 November 1748, in Meiningen, Thuringia, Germany, at the age of 74, and was buried in Meiningen, Saxe-Meiningen.
