Esquire just confirmed what everyone who's been watching Emilia Clarke for years as the powerful Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones has known: She's the sexiest woman alive. The title (most recently held by the likes of Penélope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson, and Mila Kunis) is fitting for the actress in 2015, however, given her continued reign as Khaleesi, but also because of her breakout role as Sarah Connor in the latest Terminator movie.  The shoot has a boudoir setting with Clarke at her sultriest in bedhead hair, lingerie, and nothing more than bed sheets.

In the interview, Clarke talks about how she landed her role on GOT, after a year of  failed attempts at making it in the acting world:

"And then my agent calls me up and says, 'Did you ever go up for Game of Thrones?'
" The original pilot for the show had already been shot but nobody was
happy with it, so HBO was digging back into the casting pile to try and
save it. This is where Emilia came in. "My agent told the casting
director, 'I know that the breakdown for this character is tall and
willowy and blonde. I know she's short and round and brown, but I'd like
you to see her.' "

"I had two scenes which told me nothing and not very much time in which
to read all those [George R. R. Martin] books," says Emilia. "So I did
what every good actor does and Wikipedia'd the living crap out of it."

Clarke explains that she knew what the folks at HBO were looking for, "someone who could grow before your eyes in one season, who could gather strength and show vulnerability, they wanted the arc," she tells Esquire. And evidently she was that person, because she became the Mother of Dragons, and the rest is Westeros history.

In the interview, the actress also talks about wanting to go to boarding school to date her older brother's friends, graphic nude scenes, and  working three jobs before landing the Game of Thrones gig. Read the whole story on Esquire here.
