BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. -- A woman wanted for murder in central Florida shot and killed herself on I-10 in Baldwin County Wednesday afternoon.

The incident in Baldwin County happened around 3 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near the 40 mile marker.

The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office spotted the vehicle of 58-year-old Maira Pacheco Nuñez, who was wanted in Hillsborough County for the murder of her 50-year-old boyfriend.

Baldwin County deputies made a traffic stop.

"The suspect then ended her own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound," the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says in a release.

"This is a tragic and heartbreaking situation. Our hearts ache for the family of this man whose life was tragically ended," said Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Violence is never an option. To anyone facing or anyone who suspects domestic violence, please remember: help is available, and you are not alone."

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Pacheco Nuñez shot and killed 50-year-old Kelbys Avila in the 9200 block of Shellgrove Court in Tampa and then fled the scene.

Deputies were called to the residence just before 7 a.m. Wednesday from a concerned family member. They located Avila upon arrival.

No further details have been released.
