About
With the scenery of Edinburgh Castle and the Firth of Forth, the Forth Floor Restaurant at Harvey Nichols certainly has a sense of drama about it. The stylish elements of the decor, such as the circular lights which begin to glow red once the sky becomes darker, and the Scottish flavours found through the restaurant menu all inspire an adventurous dining experience with the finest quality food. Meanwhile, the brasserie makes for an enjoyable alternative, presenting a modern take on conventional European cuisine, and the extensive wine list includes over 350 different varieties of wines and champagnes. During the summer months, it is also possible to enjoy meals outside on the large terrace, overlooking all of Edinburgh.

When our guide said we'd be eating our last dinner at Harvey Nichols, we weren't sure what to expect. Turns our we had a great time and the food was very good. The staff were a bit overwhelmed, but extremely pleasant. The view was amazing.

We enjoyed an another visit of an early family meal- table of 12. The food was excellent- lots of choices, and flexibility within the menu. The restaurant was airy, busy but not noisy, and the views were magical. For me, it’s the staff and service that make HN a perfect place to dine. Friendly, unassuming, knowledgable and with a “no trouble” approach to any request. Thank you

Visited here for cocktails. We had great service from Bobby, friendly and attentive. We ordered several drinks and didn’t need to wait to get Bobbys attention for another round. Lovely view of St Andrews square.

Harvey Nichols, St Andrews Square in Edinburgh restaurant is on the 4th Floor, giving you a spectacular view over this gorgeous City. To your left is Edinburgh Castle, to your right is the Forth Road Bridge & in front is St Andrews Square and the beautiful City from your panoramic view point. We visited for breakfast & were presented with a wide selection of choice. My English Breakfast Tea needed quite a stir & patience before i could pour what i would explain as a “Rich Flavoured Tea” but not a set back. Breakfast was excellent & something i would not hesitate to order again on another visit. Taking into account of the view, the menu, the quality & the first class service … it’s a lovely venue for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea!

I have to say this was the starting point of our day and I firmly believe that the outstanding reputation that I grew up believing, couldn’t have been further from the experience I had today. The service was slow - sat in the bar window looking out at the castle for over 20 minutes before a waiter came to ask us if we may like a drink. The place was run down and holes in the flooring; the service after he first drink was non existent and most staff did not look like they had been trained to provide a first class experience the prices they charge dictate. I am pleased the rest of our day moved on to far superior service from the Balmoral Hotel and the amazing Queen Charlotte tea rooms - orient express experience - very underwhelmed by Harvey Nichols and won’t be returning

Just went for some drinks in the bar area. Found waiters to be polite and helpful. Didn’t need to wait long for our drinks. Beautiful views over Edinburgh/Fife

What a horrible place. The service was awful. Was seated and left there. Had to ask someone to take the order. Lots of staff but obviously no structure. Someone behind us was clearing a table and redressing it when a man, who I assumed was the manager, came up waving a receipt at this poor man, having a go at him about something. This poor man was red in the face and obviously embarrassed by this moron for humiliating him in public. I would NEVER step foot inside their establishment again. Waste of my time and money. I've had better service at a macdonalds!

Visited with Itison voucher , set menu . Food was excellent , let down with a portion of chips in a tea cup , for gods sake give us an extra tattie ! £5 charged for this , have a word with yourself . Shame to be talking about that as food was so good as was the service . Can never understand why restaurants let themselves down with trivial things . Got to dessert and menu had changed , strange , but was then offered anything off normal desert menu , so can’t complain . Have to say though it does feel like a cafe rather than a restaurant and because of that I don’t think I would return . Thanks to all .

Decided to visit the restaurant, first time as visiting Edinburgh. Were seated promptly and drinks order taken. This arrived quickly but every other table in restaurant were given a bottle of still water but we are still waiting to be offered water. Almost finished drinks and still waiting to be asked if we wanted any food, any further drinks or even given the actual water. Other tables even brought further bottles of water. Very disappointed and will not return. Service shocking.

New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
