- Revisiting this RSD 2024 release following my previous post. My records are now pan flat and revolve concentrically. As I have come to expect, the pressing quality from Cleveland's Gotta Groove pressing plant is astoundingly good, but this seems to be routine for the guys at GG. I have long felt that GG is the best pressing plant in the U.S.A. based on my own observations over the years. Unfortunately, records are subjected to all kinds of stresses and temperatures as they move through different climatic zones and this can cause warping and nasty stuff like that. If you like Luna, Dean & Britta etc., buy this. it is a very worthwhile investment in a musical sense. Dream pop of the highest order!.
- My RSD copy at two copies of the first LP (so missing the 2nd half of the record). Sounds great. The LP 1 that is. No warp on either record. Have ordered a second copy and will dispose of this one making for what 1,999 in existence out there. Presumably one of which has two copies of LP 2.
- Edited one month agoWhile this reissue is impressively packaged and I was delighted to find that it was pressed at Gotta Groove and packed in GG's own MoFi type inner sleeves, I was quite disappointed when I got home and opened it up. The inner sleeves were literally stuck to the vinyl in both cases and were hard ro remove without rubbing the records againt the surfaces. As a cosequence, Record 2 in my set has scuffing on one side, not caused by me I hasten to add.. Worse was to follow however. Both records are quite badly warped and Record 2 has one side (D) really horribly off centre. The spindle hole will need some 'surgery'. Record 1 is on my Disc Flatter now and Record 2 is waiting in line. Very strange really, Gotta Groove is usually very reliable although most of the records that I buy that are pressed at GG arrive with some manner of warping. It's the shrink wrapping of course which is too tight that causes this. I don't doubt that the pressing quality will be very good though when these discs are eventually in a playable state. Not good for a 2LP set that cost me €50. One shouldn't have to do all this 'prep work' to put a record in a playable state?
- Get this from the store while you can!
This pressing is stellar!!! Sounds perfect, as it should. Beautiful all around, quality packaging and sleeves and the bonus stuff is amazing too
