Cannot generate proxies.

PostMon Jun 19, 2023 12:16 am

1) I am in the edit page.
2) I select a number of clips. (no of clips doesn't seem to matter)
3) I right-click and select "generate proxy media"

I get the following errors:

First, the window briefly says "Error encountered during proxy media generation."
Then It says "Proxy media failed to generate for the following files." followed by a list of all the files that I selected.

I am on Windows 11. I am running Resolve Studio version 18.1.4, Build 9.

I was surprised to see almost no information about this specific issue. I found only two posts. One said to change the timeline proxy playback resolution. I tried every setting for this option that I could, and it didn't change anything.

Any help is appreciated.

What happens if you do that in the Media page?
Do you have write permission to the target drive?
And what do you have set in your project for the format?

Ok. First, thank you so much for responding.
I have attached a screenshot of my settings when I got the error.

I freely admit that I don't know that much about the details of how the program works. Meaning, I play with settings very little And it is something I need to work on. Unfortunately I am very busy as a full-time videographer and editor. I try to learn what I can on my offtime. In this case I was just hoping to get the answer to this question so I could get a project done.

Thanks again.

Your format is far too heavy and would probably fill the target drive.
Use DNxHR SQ or LB on a PC, ProRes LT or Proxy (sic!) on a Mac.

His Proxy format is H.264, Uli. (But I agree he should change his OM and Cache settings.)

What camera was used to record the clips, Brian?
