Rezensionen
Aufgenommen 13 Tage nach "Live in Berkeley", präsentiert "Live at Cap D'Agde" King Crimson als Vorgruppe von Roxy Music auf ihrer 82-er Europa-Tour. Ob Brian Ferry sowas in den 70-ern für in den 80-ern möglich gehalten hätte? Und dann spielen King Crimson auch noch eindeutig intelligentere und heißere Tanzrhythmen als Roxy Music...
Offenbar hat man an jenem 26-ten August "Red", "The Howler", "Frame by Frame", "Discipline" und "Neurotica" aus dem Programm geschmissen. Dafür gab es "Heartbeat" und "Larks' Tongues in Aspic Part II" zu hören. Drei auf Tape fehlende Stücke des Cap D'Agde-Konzertes wurden auf dieser CD durch die Aufnahmen des nächsten Auftritts (in Frejus) ersetzt, den man auch auf Video/DVD ("The Noise", später "Neil and Jack and me") bewundern kann.
Ansonsten sind Unterschiede zu "Live in Berkeley" minimal. Eine gut eingespielte Band, die ihre polyrhythmisch eigensinnige Prog-New-Wave-Musik eindrucksvoll zelebriert. An Brufords Schlagzeugspiel fällt mir hier die verstärkte Neigung zu stampfenden Rhythmen auf (war es die Hitze?), auch wenn das "Indiscipline" eröffnende Schlagzeugsolo immer noch überzeugt. Fripps Improvs von "The Sheltering Sky" sind natürlich etwas anders als in Berkeley ausgefallen und "Larks Tongues in Aspic Part 2" klingt fast schon mitreißend. Insgesamt herrscht Routine auf höchstem Niveau. Über die Soundqualität läßt
sich auch nur Positives sagen.
