Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr.

What a playlist!  As lead vocalists of the popular singing group The 5th Dimension, husband and wife team Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. recorded such hits as “Up, Up & Away,” “Wedding Bell Blues,” “Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In,” “One Less Bell to Answer” and “Stoned Soul Picnic,” among many others.  As a duo, they also topped the charts with “You Don’t Have To Be A Star (To Be In My Show),” which earned them a Grammy Award for best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group.

McCoo and Davis have achieved incredible success in over 40 years of show business as recording artists, performers and authors.  They have received seven Grammy Awards, earned 15 gold and three platinum records, and performed to sold-out concerts around the world.  As part of The 5th Dimension, they were honored with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

In 2004, McCoo and Davis co-authored “Up, Up and Away . . . How We Found Love, Faith and Lasting Marriage in the Entertainment World.”  They have also appeared on television recently in recurring guest roles on “The Jamie Foxx Show,” playing the parents of Jamie’s girlfriend. 

McCoo and Davis have never stopped touring, performing everything from famous duets to the music of Duke Ellington.  Their concert at the Lyric will celebrate their four decades of musical success, with a tribute to the hits and productions that have made up their multi-faceted careers.
