Oakwood Friends School Reviews
Rating 3.95 out of 5 43 reviews
Oakwood's teachers are fantastic, but the administration is atrocious. If you plan to send your child here, please understand that mental health resources are non-existent. They are unable to address even simple challenges with anxiety, depression etc. For a school that claims to be a "cohesive community", it is appalling how many of their students are treated. Thankfully, my daughter is attending school elsewhere. Be cautious and mindful! All the administration cares about is appearance and tuition money. Everything is swept under the carpet.
About half the teachers are some of the best educators and people you will ever meet, while the other half is either bad at teaching or rude. Did not feel prepared for college classes in anything but humanities. Students are cliquey, and while most are kind, some are very mean and passive aggressive. Administration is awful, there was a scandal almost every year I was there with racism that the head of school did not do a good job handling. Campus is beautiful but food is terrible. Boarding there is fun sometimes but other times it feels suffocating. 2/5 stars definitely wouldn’t recommend if you want a normal high school experience or good mental health in your high school years.
I’m a boarder on campus. I love the school and staff but I wish there was more diversity. We have great outdoor activities and some clubs. Overall it’s a good school culture .
