'After looking at me, Sunny Deol broke into a smile,' says Akash Dhar - Exclusive

Sunny Deol is all set to take the box office by storm as he dons the role of Tara Singh once again after a gap of 22 years in Gadar 2. In his second journey as Tara Singh, he’s being helped by many characters and one of them is Akash Dhar who plays Major Bhargav in the film. Not many know that Akash was also part of Sunny Deol’s directorial venture Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, which was the launch vehicle of his son Karan Deol.
Talking about working with Sunny Deol as his director, Akash says, “He was very clear of what he wanted and till the time he got what he wanted he wouldn’t let go. Initially I was overwhelmed when I was working with him but after that, it was a great learning experience."
He also added that Sunny Deol is not much of a talker, one would not realise that he’s even on the sets! As a director he was forced to talk as had to explain the scenes and give instructions.
Akash also shares an anecdote, “I still remember my first scene with Sunny Deol in Gadar 2. We had not met on the sets till that time. It was a very intense scene and then the director asked us to stand on our marks and Sunny Sir was in his zone of Tara Singh, absolutely intense. When he looked up and saw me, all the intensity went away and his face broke into a huge smile and he came over to give me a hug.”
Akash has a good role in the film, but he’s hardly seen in the trailer. He agrees that it dampens an actor’s spirit, “There are certain calls that producers, directors and studio take, one can’t do much about it. But nevertheless I’m in the film.”
