One of out sirloin steaks was inedible and had to be sent back twice. To be fair the staff dealt with it really well and professionally. And the other four meals were good,

Good food as always. Service was a little lacking at the end. We got given dessert menus and then not asked if we actually wanted one. We asked for the bill in the end and while that was being done we then got asked. Bit late really. We did however receive a lovely little dessert with happy anniversary on it which was a nice touch.

The ambience is superb- so friendly, colourful and welcoming. The staff were all excellent and caring and attentive- not only our lovely and very efficient waitress but also the receptionist staff, helping us get a nice table, taxi afterwards etc The food was the best we have had yet at The Ivy and our friend’s birthday was celebrated with a special , delicious chocolate ‘bombe’. Our guests were gourmets from France and so it was important they enjoyed the food and The Ivy didn’t let us down!

I have been reluctant to submit a review, given that the visit to The Ivy, Tunbridge Wells was a birthday treat. It feels like complaining about a present and that is not a pleasant experience. To be honest it was all a very average event. I can only really describe my afternoon tea birthday treat as being somewhat similar to a visit to a Little Chef. The restaurant was deserted, as were the tables outside on the pavement. We asked if we could have our tea outside but were denied this, the reason being lost in translation. We then asked if we could have a table by the window. It was a lovely, sunny day. This was also denied. We were lead to the back of the restaurant and amidst a sea of tables we were placed within three feet of the only other diners. Immediately adjacent to them! We were uncomfortable and clearly so were they! Ridiculous placement given the scarcity of other diners. We were served our tea in a very basic and utilitarian manner which cannot be applauded or criticised. Again, very Little Chef, but I was paying £80.00 including a compulsory service charge. More than twice the price of the excellent competition. It left a feeling that we had made the afternoon easier for the staff. “This place would be fantastic if we could get rid of the customers.” Fawlty Towers?”

Hi Joseph, we are sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with us. Afternoon tea takes up a lot of space an cannot be comfortably enjoyed on our outside tables which is why we advise against it. We also have no tables for two in a window which is why you were given one of our lovely corner seats as the next best alternative, we apologise that this was not explained more clearly on the day. Some of our larger tables are specifically requested to allow space for high chairs and wheel chairs, so we do apologise that we were unable to accommodate you this time around. We would also like to add that the service charge is always optional and is down to our guest discretion. We do hope that you'll give us another opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable experience next time around

We enjoyed an unhurried, delicious breakfast at The Ivy Tunbridge Wells yesterday. The menu had plenty of tasty options and our table was well placed both to chat and to people-watch. Importantly, the service was excellent throughout from a welcoming, professional team. Highly recommended.

We had an absolutely lovely time at The Ivy. We were asked if it was a special occasion and we said we had just got married! The service was perfect, nothing too much trouble and not at all rushed. All the food was presented beautifully and was delicious, we had brunch. I had eggs royale with smoked salmon and it was amazing. A short time afterwards they presented us with a gorgeous chocolate choir bun dessert for sharing with congratulations on it which was a really lovely touch and made our day!! Highly recommend The Ivy Tunbridge Wells.

The bar’s the star. Started with a strawberry/rhubarb Bellini and finished with a chocolate/cherry martini. Wonderful. Everything in between was great too.

The food is pretty consistent with all branches of the Ivy - the Sunday roast was a little disappointing, why ask how you would like the beef cooked if it is all served well done and when asked reply that 'they cannot cater for individual tastes' ? Service was quite slow - particularly drinks and the initial taking of our order.

I was using my Mother’s Day gift voucher and I was very disappointed to be asked to pay more money because the prices had gone up! I have told a lot of people about this experience as I did not expect it to happen anywhere, especially in an establishment such as The Ivy 😩

This was the first time we've dined at the Tunbridge Wells Ivy & we'll certainly come again. Overall it was a memorable experience. My only criticism is that our starters appeared too quickly. I'd only drunk a third of my gin & tonic when they arrived.

Food quality was disappointing, I had the chicken and had no taste, it was also very dry, the basil pesto was far too strong on the rocket salad, and the waiter was far too loud, he filled my glass up with wine to the top so I had about 1/2 pint of wine in my glass, and poured it like he was pouring water. Such a shame that one person can ruin it for the rest of them.

I have been here on several occasions before & its usually been OK if always overpriced. On this trip they had no Shepperd's Pie, absolutely ridiculous as its there signature dish & they should never allow this to run out, its not rocket science to make it. Instead we had Rin Eye Steaks. These were incredibly fatty even for rib eye, I was able to eat about 20% of what was on my plate. I mentioned this to the waiter who said that they had had a lot of complaints about the Rib Eye tonight, however no discount was made to the bill. £36 for an inedible steak made me leave feeling ripped off. Unlikely to return for a long while.

We were overcharged by £50 which we didn’t notice until later that evening. I called the Ivy and they were going to call back to refund the mistake but we have heard nothing since. Not impressed.

My partner and myself received a warm Welcome and were shown to our table. We had afternoon tea. The food was very good with a selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones. Personally a few too many sweet things for my taste as I would have preferred more of their very nice sandwiches. Service on the top up of tea was a little slow. Overall nice restaurant and nice staff and good food

Lovely brunch and had window seat as requested. Unfortunately it seemed that the waiting staff forgot we were there so had to ask 3 times for service ( no knives for croissants, breakfast plates not cleared, weren’t asked if we wanted more tea or drinks). Disappointing service overall, which was not our past experience

There’s a nightclub below and the table and chair vibrate while you eat. The fish wasn’t cooked which was deducted from the bill. Such a shame as would never go back now.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff, let down by an annoying set-meal menu structure and well-presented but disappointing main courses. With respect to the set-meal structure, the two-course version no longer offers the choice of starter and main or main and desert, which is frequently found with many other establishments. As my wife never has a starter, but always a desert, she therefore had to choose her meal from the à la carte menu. So one star deducted for this. Two further stars were deducted for the main courses. Considering our delightfully presented and tasty starters (my daughter and myself) and ultimately my dessert, we all felt let down by the main courses. My wife and I both had a surprisingly-average "classic" shepherd's pie, accompanied by a gravy that disappointingly reminded us in so many ways of the type we both experienced at school. If it did indeed contain red wine as alleged by the menu, then we both certainly couldn't taste it. Our daughter, for whose birthday we'd booked the meal, was equally disappointed with her lobster languine, expecting a much better sensory experience for the price. However, she was delighted with the, unexpected to her, birthday surprise which followed. This Ivy touch rounded off the meal nicely.

Very good not helped though by loud show off people sat next to us. Not the Ivys fault, just “people”

The food was absolutely delicious, and it was really great service. It was my partners birthday which I added a note to the booking and they surprised him with a birthday pudding. Best meal out we’ve had in a long time! Will go back.

Excellent meals, we all enjoyed (one had steak, one curry and one fish cakes for mains). Accommodated the baby and provision of a high chair.
