Why a major record lable or distributor did not release this CD is completely mystifying because it's a wonderful line up of songs from a truly legendary artist. I give this CD a low score because of the horrible technical quality of the CD itself.
The first tip off there were problems ahead was the loose shrink wrap and lack of any security seals one usually finds on a new CD. Pulling out the insert revealed absolutely no album notes or photos, album credits or track information. Just blank.
The printing on the disc itself was so poor, much of the lable printing was completely unreadable. Turning the disc over revealed the truth: This was not a professionally manufactured CD, but was most likely "copied" on a consumer-level CD burner.
Then I tried playing the CD. It would not play on my home sound system, nor would it play on my car's CD player. It only barely played on my computer and only after the CD player scanned several times to locate the first track. Once it finally began playing, the first track ("Live For Life") had several clicks and pops, with one very loud pop between tracks 1 and 2.
Unknown if I experienced a "bootleg" copy or not. But please be aware of these problems before you consider ordering it.
No matter the cd, or the age at which the recording was made, shows Jack Jones as a master interpreter of the American Songbook. His vocal style and intonation are elegant. The mood is definitely love - of the material and Mr. Jones himself!
