We had a great time on the tour. Captain Tom did a fantastic job talking about life in the swamps and the ecosystem there. We certainly got to see a lot of the inhabitants of the swamp.

The Swamp Tour was amazing and Tom, our guide, made this tour for us. He is extremely knowledgeable, fun and passionate about the swamp. He encouraged questions of any kind and would happily talk about anything you asked. The alligators were incredible and the swamp itself is so beautiful.

Captain Tom is an absolute gem and provides an authentic cajun swamp experience. This was my third swamp tour and by far the best! The staff in the office were great to work with and the facilities are outstanding (and very clean). Captain Tom is quite simply an American legend. He brings relevance to why this way of life is truly an American gem that hopefully will never go away. From explaining the importance of why all the little parts of the swamp are critical for the whole ecosystem, to caring for all of the creatures around him, to showing the relevance of the swamp to city folk like me and why it should mean something to everyone- this is a trip worth every penny. Multi- lingual in many languages, he shows his guests the true meaning of farm to table (vegetarians with an open mind will still love him- his personality, laughter, and wit will reel everyone in, I guarantee it!) This Jayhawk salutes a true Ragin Cajun. Job well done!!!

We had a great time, learned a lot about the ecosystem and all the critters. It felt like we were in an episode of Swamp People (that is indeed a compliment). Captain Joe (I hope that was his name!) was friendly, informative and a whole lot of fun.

We saw probably 40 gators. They’re not afraid of the boat so they’ll come right up to you. They can jump so keep your hands inside! Our guide called them in and fed them some marshmallow and chicken which brought them in close. Along the way we also saw many beautiful birds and raccoons. This is trip worth taking. Again, request Dustin! He was very informative and funny. He made this trip a highlight.

Are small dogs allowed to go on the swamp boat tour?

No need. The tour operators bring raw chicken to feed to the gators.

I want to go on this swamp tour because of the great reviews.
However, I am worried that I might prefer the experience on an airboat because it is faster.
I don’t know much about either option, so I am not sure.
Would fun loving people in their early to mid 30s enjoy this tour? Is this an “exciting” tour or should I consider one of the airboat tours?

Hi and thanks for your interest in our swamp tour. This is Lori with Cajun Pride. I believe you would have a great time on a swamp or airboat tour. However, we are slow moving from start to finish with narration the entire tour. I would advise you to search videos from Airboat Adventures, an airboat company that we have experienced. For a fast moving experience, this might be the better option for your group. Then the next time in NoLa, we would of course welcome you to try us;)

What are the chances of seeing wildlife (alligators/raccoons etc) in March? What kind of stuff is sold in the gift shop? Is it expensive?

March, not so great for alligators, I think. Because they arent so lively in cold weather (plus, this outfit is seasonal, I believe). Raccoons for sure bec they bait them. Wild pigs too (same reason). Alligators, though, maybe. The gators we saw in early Nov were all babies. No big guys. Hope this helps.

Visiting America in December and really want to do this tour! Is it still ok in Winter?

The cruise through the swamp would probably still be nice for the flora & fauna but you may not see much in the way of alligators only because when it is cold they bury themselves in the mud!
