Unless economy passengers have an elite status on Etihad Airways, they are last to board the plane. Economy passengers can also board Etihad Airways earlier if they have paid for Priority Access. Since Etihad has different types of economy class, the fares are usually different. The amenities and allowances in these different types of economy class are also not the same.

Unlike some airlines which have partnered with specific airlines for providing different types of services, Etihad has not yet partnered with other airlines to provide different economy class fare types. But what exactly are the different Economy Class fare types on Etihad Airways, anyhow? Let’s find out.

Different types of fares on an Etihad Airways Economy Class:

Depending upon whether you have reserved a Basic, Value, Comfort, or Deluxe seat, the baggage allowances are also different. While the Basic seats allow only cabin baggage, you can find generous baggage allowances in the Value and Comfort fares. These latter types of fares also allow you to have extra Etihad Guest Miles. Some other perks of the different fare types include:

According to Etihad, some of the rules that the GuestSeats are bound by are:

• Applies only up to 24 hours before your flight
• No refunds/changes are permitted within 24 hours of your flight
• Date changes to redemption Guest Seats bookings may incur a difference in fare which will have to be paid in the form of miles

Different types of seats on Etihad Airways Economy Class

Extra legroom seats

The extra legroom seats have more leg space to stretch out on board, and are located at the front of the plane. These seats are available for free when you book a Deluxe fare

Neighbor Free seats

As the name itself suggests, this type of seat helps keep up to three neighboring seats free for extra room. This gives passengers extra comfort. You can place a bid for neighbor free seats up to 72 hours before you fly.

Bulkhead seats

Bulkhead seats are perfect for families with children as there are no sats infront of you. These seats are placed directly behind an internal wall fo the aircraft cabin.

Etihad clearly says that if you pay for a particular type of seat but are given a different seat type on your flight, you’ll be fully reimbursed. However, Etihad warns that the refund is not available in the following cases:

• Are allocated the same type of seat, but on a different row (we will always try to keep seats booked on the same ticket together)
• Choose one type of seat and then are upgraded to a Neighbour-Free seat
• If your itinerary was changed by another airline

Perks for the Platinum members include either of the following

• Free booking for up to nine standard seats for free
• Or one extra legroom seat.

Perks for the Gold members include either of the following:

• Free reservations for two standard seats
• Or 50% off two extra legroom seats.

Perks for the Silver members include either of the following:

• Choose one standard seat for free
• Or 30% off one Extra legroom seat.

Baggage allowance while flying Etihad economy class

The baggage allowance while flying with Etihad depends on the destination, and the type of fare you have booked. Your baggage can be 35.4 inches long, 28.3 inches wide and 17.7 inches in height, in the maximum. Ina addition, you can also have carry-on baggage of up to 15 pounds.

If you are headed to and from the Americas in the Etihad economy class, you can have two pieces of checked luggage with you. Both of these can have a maximum weight of 50 pounds.

For other destinations:

• Depending upon the total weight of the bags, you can have a different number of bags with you.
• Each passenger can have up to 50 pounds of checked baggage.

Seats on Etihad Airlines Economy Class

Seats on Etihad Airlines’ are 17 to 17.5 inches wide, while on the Airbus A330s, they are 17.5-inch-wide. The pitch of the seats on the Boeing 777s and 787s are 31- to 33-inch pitch, while on the Airbus A330s, they are 31- to 33-inches.

Upgraded economy tickets on Etihad Airlines

Besides the regular Value fares on the Etihad Economy, there are also options for Sale, Choice and Choice Plus - all of which have rules different from the regular Value fares. While no changes are allowed on Sale fares, Choice fares give you the option of one free date change. Choice fares also allow refunds, though there will be a certain fee.
